Note: The location is not in Settings (Cog icon)

Windows 10. Clean install. Kodi never installed. New install of Kodi 17.3 from official site. Doing nothing other than going direct to Addon-ons > My addon-ons.

Add-ons are already pre-installed, but disabled.

@jake29, thanks for showing the Windows 10 picture. It actually made me think more about this issue, and make some changes to my build, so there will be an RC2. However, in spite of the changes, I can't reproduce the Windows 10 screen out of the box. It would be helpful to hunt down a linux distribution that OOTB displays the same defaults as Windows 10. My raspberrypi OSMC and libreElec don't.

edit: This issue was marked [RESOLVED] via PM.

I have uploaded updates of the kodi TXZ package and the Kodi SFS, and an experimental SFS of Kodi binary add-ons. See the first post for download (42) and install instructions. I think this project has reached RC2 release quality. Please keep posting feedback, even if just positive Smile

A note regarding Visualisations. I've been trying to enable them, and have so far been unsuccessful. Perhaps include a mention in first post (and workaround) as it's an obvious missing element of the Kodi experience.

Explanation:
Quote:
(T)he Linux build does not include any Visualisations on install, all other versions of Kodi for Android, OSX & Windows include all available Visualisations in the installer.

The binary add-ons SFS available since 17-July-17 includes six visualizations, you can get it from the downloads folder. Get the README-kodi.md for details. This is what it currently says about add-ons.
README-kodi wrote:

### Add-ons

The Kodi TXZ package and SFS file include just the default add-ons for the
Linux platform. Since 2017-07-17 several binary add-ons are packaged as a
separate SFS file, which is to be considered _experimental_. It includes 17
audiodecoders, 2 inputstreams (adaptive and rtmp), joystick, 19 PVRs, 20
screensavers, and 6 visualizations. To enable an add-on click "Add-ons" in the
left pane, click "Enter add-on browser" if necessary, click "My add-ons" then
the category, i.e., "Look & feel" for "ScreenSaver" and "Visualization", and so
on.

Don't expect all add-ons to work. I tested very few and just a little.

  • Visualization ProjectM is broken (can't load shared lib).

Subject description: updates and RC3, possibly final

I have uploaded an updated avahi TXZ package, two new Kodi SFS flavors, and updated instructions. Don't forget that since 17-7-17 an experimental SFS of Kodi binary add-ons is also available.

See the first post for download (65) and install instructions. I think this project has reached RC3 release quality, and if no significant issues are reported within a week it will go final.

Please keep posting feedback, even if just positive Smile thanks.

Hi step, thanks for the updates.

Attempting to run the kodi_17_3-2017.09.03-x86_64-35.sfs returns:
Code:
/usr/lib64/kodi/kodi.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libavahi-client.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Suggesting Avahi is not included in that sfs. You also have created kodi_17_3_avahi_0_6_32-2017.09.03-x86_64-35.sfs. Can you explain the intention here with these two sfs files?

Hi Jake,

thanks for keeping up your feedback. Hopefully, this can answer your question.

currently online README-kodi.md wrote:

## TLDR;

Choose one of the following:

* One stop: Download and load the "Kodi with Avahi" SFS - minimal changes to
your system, can be unloaded at will.
**=>** `kodi_17_3_avahi_0_6_32-2017????-x86_64-??.sfs`
* Two stops: Download and load the "Kodi" (without awahi) SFS; download and
install the avahi TXZ package - auto-start avahi service at boot time.
**=>** `kodi_17_3-2017????-x86_64-??.sfs`
**=>** `avahi-0.6.32-x86_64-5.txz`
* Many stops: Download and install kodi, avahi and all required TXZ packages -
Install and forget, 199 MB minimum disk space required.
**=>** Read full package list in section _Installation_.

README-kodi.md wrote:

### Awahi Forward-Compatibility

Recently, an avahi package has made its appearance in the official Fatdog64
repository. The version label is 0.7, which is newer than the avahi version in
this Kodi build. I have tested this build with avahi 0.7 and found no issues.
However, since version 0.6.32 has been tested for much longer, I decided to
keep the older avahi version in this package, and leave the newer version for a
future build - the timeframe of which will follow that of the next release of
Fatdog64 itself. Built-in avahi support is planned for the next Fatdog64
release. Meanwhile, based on my limited tests, you can mix this Kodi build with
avahi 0.7. Load the "Kodi without avahi" SFS for that.

While reading README-kodi.md for your question, I noticed that some sentences still reflect one SFS file only. I will update them to clarify that there is now a choice between two SFS files.

Thanks

Subject description: Final

At last the final version is here, updated 2017-09-13. Thanks to all those who gave feedback on the test builds. If you have downloaded the RC3 SFS version 2017.09.03, you don't need to upgrade. The final version differs slightly in the way kodi is packaged.

Discussion for this version starts here.

There's a set of TXZ packages and two bundled Kodi SFS files. SFS users need to install or load python2, then choose one of the SFS files:
- with avahi (all-in-one)
- without avahi, if you already have avahi installed.
One way or another, avahi must be installed for this build to run.
Please read the README file.

The all-in-one version is available from the Fatdog64 SFS Manager in Control Panel. The without-avahi version can be downloaded from the download link in the first post (76).

Since 2017-07-17 an optional, experimental SFS of Kodi binary add-ons is also available from the download link below.

Thanks step for the final build. Just to mention, I'm not seeing this release on Fatdog64 SFS Manager. Is there anything I need to do?

In case people are unaware, Kodi offers a lot of benefit to low-spec machines. Services like YouTube and Twitch can be viewed in higher-quality with lower resource usage than in a browser.

Hi Jake, thanks. I can see it in sfsmanager now. Perhaps you tried too soon, before ibiblio activated the download.

I'm still not seeing it listed in sfsmanager nor http://distro.ibiblio.org/fatdog/sfs/710/.
