puppyluvr wrote::D Hello,
From the linked post:
Basically it is all the 5.12 binaries launched from the 5.07 GUI...
Still installs as XScreensaver 5.07, but the PPM sees it as pupxscreensaver..
The savers themselves are from 5.12 built in 2011, on Lupu...
But the gui didnt compile properly, so I used the 5.07 one..
Since it is both 5.07 and 5.12 I just call it pupxscreensaver for now... :D
Just click OK in the "root user" warning box...
Yep I kinda got that. Dawned on me after I had sent it that was the case, but wanted to make sure I had the right file.

I had clicked the OK button each time I tried it, and still get that error.

No big deal only a screensaver after all. Life goes on..

Thanx for the help,
Have a good one,
geo

xscreensaver for XenialPup & Tahrpup

#22 Post by mikeslr »

Hi All,

Using PPM and PaDS, I successfully built xscreensaver for both Tahrpup and XenialPup, the 32-bit versions. Details are given here: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 306#964306

The same method can probably work in other recent Ubuntu-base Puppies, such as the 64-bit versions of the two I mentioned if the problems mentioned here, http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 945#960945 are addressed.

As yet, however, I haven't figured out how to employ the app: that is set it up so that after a certain period of idleness it will turn on. I suspect some searching/reading is in order. :idea:
