i installed tahrpup 6.0.5 when it boots it shows the grey puppy logo screen with
just wait 5 seconds...
loading vmlinuz..
then it shows some script
loading drivers needed ...
searching for puppy files..
and the desktop comes up but i see no splash screen like plymouth?

Who needs a splash screen? It doesn't actually perform any useful function.....and Pup, being lightweight, is all about functionality. You can't really expect all the pretty 'eye-candy' as standard, although you can install something like it later on, if you want to.
As long as Puppy boots up, and gets to the desktop, and everything works.....that's good enough for me. I couldn't care less what everything looks like up until that point...

The puppy logo IS the splash screen.
After puppy boots to desktop - you can choose your own background-image by right-clicking desktop - choose Desktop-->JWM Desk manager. Here you can choose background image. To use your own, save images in /usr/share/backgrounds.

Yes, after installing puppy with grub4dos the splash screen disappears.
But its easy to get a splash screen on the grub4dos menu - check out
