Story Maker 1.4

#1 Post by trio »

Hi,

Story Maker is a multimedia tool to Create Slide Show Video from a directory of pictures.

Dependencies:
- ffmpeg/avconv
- /usr/bin/getimagedimension - included in .pet (by SFR)
- rxvt

Created in Quirky 6.2.1, should work with tahrpup. Please try with precise 5.7.1 or slacko 5.7

I used .jpg in 3 different dimensions from a blackberry Q10 camera, should work with .png, I don't know about other formats

I used .mp3 for background music, please test other formats

Please choose and fill in entries with correct format

Please put the pictures in one directory and only pictures!

The dimension of the video is determined by the first picture, so place the picture with the dimension you want (W x H) as the first picture in the directory, name it like img001.jpg

Video is in .mp4 format

test result https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2nWwiy ... e=youtu.be

Enjoy!

v 1.4: Bugfix: accept directory - thanks to Neeraj
v 1.3: change how functions work
v 1.2:
- Differ video name with music, like $DIR-back_music.mp4 while non music only $DIR.mp4
- Spelling check (I'm not English speaking natively)
- Info button
- Change rxvt background to black and font in white (nicer look)

v 1.1 - Pic Dir is the name of video

To do (when I have time):
- Differ video name with music, like $DIR-w_music.mp4 while non music only $DIR.mp4
- Spelling check (I'm not English speaking natively)
- Help button - open a txt file
- Change rxvt background to black and font in white (nicer look)

Story maker vs Imagination

#4 Post by Pelo »

ah I like when new apps are added . I'll try it asap (as soon as possible).
I download the pet and bookmark the page.
About audio, don't mind. it's almost always better to add audio after making the slideshow.

I don't know how I overlooked this.
I will test this in Fatdog631 and 700b2.
Thanks.

I tested this in Fatdog 700b2, Two problems.
1) I couldn't choose an empty "Video Output Directory". It always wanted to select a file.
2) I choose an source directory with 1920x1080 .jpg wallpapers, did not choose any music file, kept output directory the default one.
When I clicked "create" a rxvt window opened, a lot of text scrolled, window closed, Cerated nothing.
I couldn't see error msgs. I tried running from terminal... no joy.
I noticed a "scalediimages" folder gets created in /tmp while it's running and deleted at the end.

Fatdog do have ffmpeg.

I did not renamed the pics like img001.jpg or any thing as they were all 1920x1080. Is this the cause? Or should I check with lower res pics.

Will test in FD631.

Thanks.

Hai Neeraj, thanks for testing.

1. It supposed to accept entry directory, i'll check later
2. I made video out of real photos from a blackbee
ry camera. I failed with images from wallpapers (in quirky in my case). Please try with real photos
3. Renaming the photos is not needed

Sorry for late reply.
I haven't tested v1.4 yet.
v1.3 does make an mp4 file when I selected .jpg photos from my droid.

Why it doesn't make video of .jpg wallpapers. What's the difference?
The terminal window that opens when I click create gets closed quickly so I can't even see the errors.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting.
In creating the video, photos need to be in same dimension and format, so I need to convert them to be uniformed and also re-name them in sequence. They're all done automatically (you can see yourself in the rxvt window). About the wallpaper thing, I suspect it's because of the size. Either it's too large or too small, that's why I call this app story maker, make stories out of real photos hehehe

FFdiaporama is part of menu multimedia in FatDog.. no more comments. waiting for some feed-back. even viewnior has diaporama.
all the difficulties are in sorting slides in the order that you wish
just rename them with a letter a,c,w,q g. to do with a sheet of paper and a pencil.
