17.10.06 delta is available

This delta has new versions of samba and transmission + symlink from /etc/init.d/dbus to /etc/init.d/messagebus as per 666philb's recommendation.
ImageLxPup = Puppy + LXDE
Main version used daily: LxPupSc; Assembler of UPups, ScPup & ScPup64, LxPup, LxPupSc & LxPupSc64

The firefox SFS now produces no audio. I checked, and ff version 55.03 was
the last to produce audio using apulse instead of pulseaudio ... both on
32 and 64 bit versions.

I'll note here that I tested zesty using pulseaudio from the repo. In
addition to a script wrapper, wanderers suggestion of patching the
default.pa file (was needed for slackopup64) was also required in zesty.

Are you using the firefox-56.0.1 sfs from the link in post #1?
Sound works fine for me......

@peebee

Yes, it was this latest SFS version that failed to produce audio for me. That's
what got me started testing.

Edit: I'm starting to remember now. It was peculiar. It produced audio
once on a youtube video test, and then started to issue the old
message about requiring pulseaudio ... and quit producing audio.

Seems to be much better and working good.

Had one problem.

Right click on a html or htm file.

ZestyPup 17.10.05

Using the firefox-56.0.1 sfs from the link in post #1.

Tried Youtube several times, with fresh restarts of the browser.

Sound working for me with no problems.

Only problem I ever had was an add video started with sound turned off in the player window. Turned it on by clicking on speaker icon bottom of player window.

I have no added installed audio programs.

Note:
New Star Wars trailer looks really good! :D

17.10.05 updated to 17.10.06 using the delta. All md5sums correct.

The 'Create Pet Package' rightclick in Rox-Filer now works.

Samba server will not start out of the box. The testparm error is

Code: Select all

testparm: error while loading shared libraries: libtalloc.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
666philbs pet had a libtalloc.so.2 to libtalloc.so.2.1.9 symlink. Put that in and then the error msg was roughly about a missing libsmbregistry-samba4.so.x. Couldn't find that anywhere, reinstalled the pet, samba ran, uninstalled the pet, it still runs. :?:

On the update, the wallpaper reverted to the default and I can't set a wallpaper. the correct name is copied to /root/.config/wallpaper/bg_img and it shows up ok in the setter in JWMDesk Manager but won't set. Any guidance?

edit: I got it back. Set the correct background file both in /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin and in /root/.config/wallpaper/bg_img, waved my arms about, swore mildy but creatively, restarted X, wash, rinse, repeat, and it's back. Earlier, I changed a theme using JWMDesk Manager and my panel disappeared :?: :!: I like the efficiency of JWM, but so far I'd be scared stiff to hand it out to my users whereas I have month and year long runs without any calls on the X-Slackos, X-Tahrs, and even fairly recent LxPupScs now. Still on board with elderZesty though.

PCManfm 1.25 is aboard and running well, your rightclicks and all, those I've tried. I have a symlink hack in for the trashcans but I am going to try disabling the stock 'move to trash' in the preferences and writing a custom rightclick to call the std. pup trash AppRun. Edit: rough as a cob but works. Posted here
Pups currently in kennel :D Older LxPupSc and X-slacko-4.4 for my users; LxPupSc, LxPupSc64 and upupEF for me. All good pups indeed, and all running savefiles for look'n'feel only. Browsers, etc. solely from SFS.

What theme?
GTK theme?
JWM theme?
Icon theme?
Global theme?

What panel?
I assume you are talking about tray 1 or tray 2.

Hi @Marv

That link is definitely in the build - open puppy_zestypup_17.10.06.sfs to check - was it a pristine install??

Seems OK here....see screenie

global theme, tray 1. I don't use the upper tray. Sorry for the nomenclature, in many other WMs it is a 'panel' and JWMDesk Manager also refers to 'panel buttons' in the launch tab...

I could use a pointer to where in JWMDesk Manager or elsewhere you have the option to delete a tray.

Thanks,

Pristine except that I had installed 666philb's pet to check it and then uninstalled it. That may have 'covered' the link. It's about time to start over fresh but building the trays/themes hasn't been the smoothest process for me. Too many decades with LXDE or XFCE.

OK, restarted from pristine. Everything onboard again and working. Suspends & governors, Samba shares and client, HP4500 printing, pet creation from Rox-Filer rightclick, themes and wallpaper, tray, pcmanfm 1.25 with trash can, Slimjet 15.1.4.0. Using as my daily.

Hi all,

Is anyone seeing this problem with the latest "ydrv-right-sfs-gz"? I downloaded it, removed the .gz, put the resulting sfs in the zestypup 'frugal' folder, and Zesty refuses to see it. I've rebooted a few times, and still no luck. Strange, the ydrv-right-click sfs before this one Zesty saw no problems. Anyone any ideas? what am i doing wrong? I've downloaded it twice now (in case 1st download was corrupted), and still Zesty refuses to see the ydrv-####.06.sfs no matter where I put it.

...ok, something's screwed up....the ydrv isn't even loaded, so in trying to get it load, I right-clicked on it, and there was "open with SFS-LOAD", so I clicked on that, and below (the pic) is what I got. And DO NOT click "set your background" because it will somehow automatically wipe the current background that is set up:

You're mixing up a ydrv for 17.10.06 with a 17.10.02 system install!!

They need to be consistent - i.e. all named the same.....

17.10.11 is just uploading....

I updated PPM and installed several applications including Kodi and
Smplayer/Smtube.

I install Firefox with PPM and it was outdated so I downloaded the
latest and copied it into the /usr/lib/firefox directory.

Zestypup seems to be working well so far,
Thanks.

ZestyPup-17.10.11

#119 Post by peebee »

Time for a rebase.....

ZestyPup-17.10.11 is the new base

Iso here (also devx and kernel sources)

Delta from 17.10.1 here

Kernel is now 4.9.56

JWM is now 2.3.7 thanks to @666philb and @zigbert

PMusic is now 5.6.0

Both Ptheme and JWMDesk may have some minor wrinkles to be sorted....
