What makes you think those are USA stations? I checked the '88.75 mhz' station, and I can't find it in the USA-list - but in the Thailand-list. I guess the default western font aren't capable in viewing asian names.

OK!

GUI confusion on my part.

So, country and genre buttons only give you a list of what can be searched for.
Highlighting a listed item does not do anything. Is this what it is suppose to do?

ldconfig is only called in /etc/rc.d/rc.update for a cross-build...which ArtfulPup is not.

ldconfig is removed in woof-ce 3builddistro line #993
I think you are probably right. I looked at Precise372 and that doesn't have it either. It seems that only 64bit Puppies have it.

The Debian rules say that the postinst and postrm should run it if the package installs shared libraries, but most of the packages I looked in don't have postinst and postrm.

Maybe it wasn't relevant to Puppies using PET packages.

Sorry for the distraction.

It works great in Zesty but the last word of each sentence gets cut short in Artful. Some people have reported this on the Duolingo forums but not in Linux. Just throwing this out there in case anybody knows what could cause this. The browser and "/root/.moonchild productions" config file are shared between Zesty and Artful so there is no difference there.
Ok, I tracked down the problem. libpulse.so.0 in Zesty and Artful are different. Even though both list apulse-0.1.10.pet in woof-installed packages, all the libpulse??? files are different. libpulse.so.0 in Artful is a binary while libpulse.so.0 in Zesty is a link to libpulse.so.0.20.1. Simply by pasting in the libpulse from Zesty I have fixed my sound problem.

I tried getting the apulse package in Artful's PPM but it found no package.

Hi jrb
By mistake, the build config was installing both full pulseaudio and apulse but due to the alphabetical build order apulse was being overwritten by full pulseaudio.

I've now removed pulseuaudio in Artful so only apulse is built-in.

Light seems to work better with apulse than with pulseaudio but it looks like your program needs pulseaudio which you should be able to install thru ppm - but be aware that Light might not work as well with Youtube videos. If you install pulseaudio then you probably do need to also install a heavyweight browser....

Hope helps
Cheers

Artfulpup & +deltas

#285 Post by sszindian »

peebee!

Just a quick question on the new Artfulpup?

Are all the latest (I believe 4 of them) '+delta upgrades' included in your latest download-build or must the user add them?

Reason asking... I don't do frugal installs on any puppy's... I do a live CD/DVD with a savefile to the HDD and would like to further test Artfulpup as I liked what I saw in your first build!

'Thanks'

Hi peebee, Thanks for your reply. I see that, as you say, Zesty has the full pulseaudio as well as apulse. I hadn't noticed that before. Unfortunately my little sound problem doesn't seem to be the only one. Apparently ffmpeg needs the full pulseaudio as well. See attached jpeg. I was trying to use ffconvert.

I copied /usr/lib/pulseaudio/libpulsecommon-10.0.so from Zesty into /usr/lib and ffconvert worked nicely.

Am still very impressed with ArtfulPup so far. :D

Cheers, J

Hi

Just the last delta (+4) must be applied to the .iso to get the latest version - the resulting .iso can then be burnt to cd. I expect the next baseline .iso to appear in November....although there is the ffmpeg issue to sort....

Artfulpup 17.10.01++4

YaPI (yet another Puppy Installer) install any Puppy iso
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=107601

Need some help to figure out what is going on with using YaPI in Artfulpup.

YaPI runs OK started from menu>Setup>YaPI.

The complete YaPI program is the yapi exec file.
If I go to /usr/sbin/yapi and left click on yapi exec file nothing happens.
If I right click on the yapi exec file.
Select run in terminal.
Yapi exec runs OK.

What would keep it from running by simply left clicking on the yapi exec file????????

This not working is preventing the YaPI option of right clicking on a Puppy.iso.
Select open with....YaPI
And YaPI installing that iso.

Hi Blackbird, :)
Thanks for the codes !

REMARK: DO NOT edit /root/.jwmrc ! lonly /etc/xdg/template/_root_jwmrc should be edited.

Does anyone have any ideas how this can be implemented in Zesty please

Thanks in advance
Got it to work on ArtfulPup (should be the same solution on Zesty) on laptop HP Elitebook 2530p 8)
here are the codes in 3 screenshots:
+ copy the idea16.xpm icon from xenialpup or another earlier Puppies !

aftrwds restart JWM (not X ! )

Line 50 is the problem...
Comment it out and /usr/sbin/yapi runs when clicked
Not clear what it's purpose is....it just opens a blank terminal window!
I think the encodings parameter is not supported by urxvt in ArtfulPup

I see that BarryK is also trying to consign urxvt to the trashcan in his builds - although he's thinking to replace it with Saluki rather than LxTerminal....

Hello peebee.
peebee wrote:(...)

What version of urxvt is included in Artful?
It may also depend on the way it was compiled.

That would be an error IMO. From experience I can tell you that neither
Saluki nor LxTerminal offer urxvt's flexibility.

As you say, the 'Country' and 'Genre' buttons gives you a list of categories. This is not meant as an example of search-words, but to browse each category. Doubleclick on a category to see the stations belonging to it. Doubleclick may be counter-intuitive, but it is the same you do when you choose to play a radio-station (and to enter a directory in the filebrowser).

My goal is to make a easy understandable gui, so obviously I have not succeeded. If you have any suggestion in how this gui could be improved to become more user-friendly, I would be thankful. Please keep in mind that actions on single-click is not straightforward in this field.

Thank you very much for looking into this!! :D
I wondered if that line 50 was the problem.
I tried to just change it to using lxterminal, but did not help.
Was thinking maybe just comment out line 50, but wanted some advice from someone who really knows code.
I too am not totally sure what line 50 is really doing.

I think it was being used to make the terminal show, when YaPI was running, to see any errors during the development of YaPI.

Now with this simple fix. YaPI is working OK on all versions of Puppy 5 series to Artfulpup.

Thanks for the help!!!!

That is not working for me.
Doubleclicking does nothing.
Is it working for you?

The GUI seems to indicate doing this, so I have tried doubleclicking.

If I middle mouse button click on something still nothing, but it does start saying connecting at the bottom of window.

devx is fixed

To test it I have compiled the ndiswrapper driver.

AlienBob's 32-bit Slackware-14.2 build of Netsurf-3.7 installs and works with no problems on ArtfulPup

YAD +6 has @zigbert's recent pmusic changes

Hi sorry for post this here, is just about how the themes works in artful
Im try to set my own icon theme in puppy, first when i choose the traditional icon arrangement show me this error
Image
think is fixed setting the icon in /usr/local/bin/defaultfiemanager defaultconsole from /usr/local/lib/X11/pixmaps.

where is this icon?, already have my file.svg icon but cant make the change in the menu>places for the recently used item
Image

In the tray configuration the manual edit funtion dont work, editing the file and terminal buttons, then when change the icon pack these 2 items fail to change.
Image

This is artfulpup delta 6.
thanx.

Applied the change to line 31.

Radio Streamer now working with doubleclick on category listings.

Thanks for the quick fix and keeping this fine program updated!!!!!

Now that doubleclick is working. The GUI seems to be easy to understand.
