I want to make a live cd for use with banking [Solved]
I want to make a live cd for use with banking [Solved]
My needs are fairly simple: A web browser; I like Pale Moon, a pdf reader I can copy text from like Foxit Reader and a spreadsheet program that doesn't crash X.
I intend the dvd to be self contained and have all the programs and any files on the disk.
I have previously had issues with using sfs files on live cd.
Any suggestions on how to proceed and what puppy to use.
I have already used several disks messing around with this and it would be good to have something that actually works.
My computer can handle either a 64 or 32 bit distro

If you're not into Re-inventing the Wheel
Hi RickGT351,
"I want to make a live cd for use with banking... A web browser;I like Pale Moon, a pdf reader I can copy text from like Foxit Reader and a spreadsheet program that doesn't crash X."
Take a look at both of these:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=96964
or
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 562#813562
Both were designed to run from a CD/DVD. Both have methods for adding applications not included by their Devs. Banksy is based on Slacko 5.6 and can use any app which will run under Slacko 5.6, 5.7.
Puli is now based on Tahrpup 6.0.5.
You shouldn't have any difficulty finding any category of application for either of them.

1. See THIS POST offering "a new version of the banksy3 impersonator".
This is what I used to burn a CD-RW disk that I have used for online banking since I made it in April 2016.
It has always worked flawlessly.
The particular thing to notice about this "impersonator" version of Banksy3, is:
You can include any number of personalizations, provided they are all included during one personalization session.
I've never needed to change mine since I did them.
Although it would be possible to complete a new different or greater set of personalizations to make a new iso and CD.
Hence, you could make multiple disks, each with a different set of personalizations [for differing specific purposes?]
2. I also tried Puli, and liked it, BUT...
Decided to use Banksy3 impersonator instead...
I found Puli rather too complex for my level of ability.

Hi Sylvander,
g/g and RickGT351 explain how to from here down: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 122#974122,
I'd go with fredx181's firefox-quantum portable. http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 010#978010. Since it's already a portable, you could place it anywhere. And I've noticed some sites will only accept firefox or google-chrome.

Now installed an additional web-browser to Banksy3.
See from this post down...to THIS.
An updated version of Banksy3 has now been released by greengeek that is capable of adding new personalizations [known as "impersonations"].

I got the idea for this question from this article in case anyone's interested
That is old and outdated. Most of the problems can/have been cured by;
1.) Removing servers/shares that are unused
2.) Removal of Flash
3.) Removal of the Java Engine (associates with Flash)
4.) Updating the browser to TLS 1.2
a.) Eliminating SSL2/3 and TLS1.0/1.1
b.) Clamping down on Javascript
c.) Zeroing all Caches
d.) Use a Private Browsing Mode
e.) Eliminate ALL off-line storage
f.) Use an Ad-Blocker for Social Media/Malwware
g.) Use the OS to open pdf files, NOT the browser
5.) Don't update the browser, but apply all security patches to the OS.
6.) DO NOT DOWNLOAD MAIL to the Computer System, read/delete it at the MAIL website. Everything you do not want to read goes to TRASH/DELETE.
7.) Social media is a snake pit, and people today (2018/9) are getting wind of this, and it is an ill wind. You have been manipulated at these sites, your news has been "filtered", and your shopping habits are public... your last warning.
Its a modern-day start, and at least, a historical account. One should learn from it.
