I highly recommend the add-ons mentioned here with instructions how to download and operate: http://gizmotricks.blogspot.co.za/2012/ ... -with.html. I use it a lot with youtube downloads. Resume capabilities (which actually work) and crazy download speeds. I've added it to Palemoon which I use on my Windows machine, assume it will work with Linux too.
Also - I have discovered this excellent site: https://youtubemultidownloader.com Here one can just insert the youtube link for download of the video (without opening the video player) but what makes it great is that one can see all the available download options for a video which do not need to be converted first before download. This is important because it shows all files (in different resolutions) of the same video available on the server (google) for download. So, say for instance I am looking to download a video in HD quality. I can now insert the link of that video and in a matter of seconds all files for that video available on the server for download as is, can be seen. If there is a file available for download at 720P resolution or higher (without needing conversion first), I know firstly that the original uploader uploaded that video to youtube in HD quality AND secondly that I can download it directly in HD quality without loss of quality (no conversion). The video can of course be downloaded with excellent speed using the downloader addons mentioned in the first paragraph.
Mozilla downloader add-ons

The downside to those sites you are mentioning, is that it convertsapril wrote:That looks like a good one thanks

the raw file on the server to a new mp4 file and thus you have a file that is re-encoded once more (after google/youtube has encoded it). The site I mention actually shows which resolutions of the file can be downloaded directly from google without conversion or waiting period. This is the first one I came across that works like this and makes for better quality downloads.
Yes . A rather complex page though . I just tried one on your site and it was very very slow!
My second link does Facebook and others too . Yours and the first of mine only do Utube which is a pain.
For anyone using the second , it throws up a PIA page after you hit "download" which if you just quickly close the page and hit download again will give you no trouble.
