Did manual frugal install.

Looks good. Internet was automatic on bootup.

Pupcontrol and Pupmenu look good. Nice to see them used and integrated so well. I like lxterminal as a default terminal choice too, much friendlier than xterm or similar.

G30 Intel graphics worked fine and glxgears ran. Sound is fine.

Looks great. It will be nice to have an official debian puppy.

Awesome compton config, Radky! Cool

For anyone using compositing, here is something you can try

I always comment out this old hack and never had any problems,
line 47 in /etc/profile:
#v2.10 MU: rox crashes with DRI modules. solution:
# export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1

It will give lxterm true transparency.

To allow true transparency in conky. I use these two lines:
own_window_argb_visual yes
own_window_argb_value 100
and comment out this
#own_window_transparent yes

Looking good!
Updating from Dec12 a2 was uneventful.

Being an RC you might want to consider a couple of older issues.
aplay, used in pmusic, crashes if you pause playback so you can not resume. This is also true with Artfulpup, but not Xenialpup or Lubuntu 17.10. Might be related to kernel discrepancies but whatever the reason might be, the default music player has a little issue. Given that you include other players, you might want to change the default till pmusic/aplay is fixed.

You might also want to put a wrapper around Xkill to restart rox (rox -p ~/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin) if a folder window is killed, because in these cases it kills ROX-filer and the desktop disappears.

I should also admit that I’m a bit surprise by the return of the “4 calculators” in a puppy, but I guess some people may still like them.

More after the Holidays Smile (maybe)

I just noticed that Palemoon doesn't appear in either the "Remove Builtin Packages" or the "Puppy Package Manager."

Does that mean it is just in /opt as a "portable application" (I know I am using that term wrong, but you know what I mean, that it isn't hooked up to the rest of the system)?

So, if I wanted to get rid of Palemoon, I could just delete it and put say Fredx's Firefox 57 in it's place and then remaster?

Great job by the way, everything looks great so far.

After testing, I can confirm the problem with pMusic when pausing playback. Maybe zigbert can propose a fix or workaround.

I'll add a wrapper for Xkill in the next release. Thanks!

I realize some users prefer one application per task, but I enjoy a little variety and the calculator apps are relatively small. Even so, I can remove one or more if they are considered non-essential.

In Dpup Stretch, Pale Moon is installed from a bzipped tarball. All executables and libs are contained in the extracted directory (/opt/palemoon). This simplifies installation, updating or removal of Pale Moon.

If you want to remaster without Pale Moon, just delete the following:

1 - /opt/palemoon
2 - /usr/bin/palemoon and /usr/bin/pminstaller.sh
3 - /usr/share/applications/palemoon.desktop and /usr/share/applications/palemoon-updater.desktop
4 - /root/.moonchild productions

Thanks!

This has really been hard, but after deliberation with help from way too many cartons of EggNog, I believe it is deserved to officially nominate Radky's:

Dpup Stretch 32-bit CE (RC)

...as 32-bit Pup Of The Year!

Overall, just sublime, Radky, truly, truly sublime, on both the legacy-K4.1.48 and the recent-k4.1.97. Wink

Hey radky, I finally got some time to boot this puppy!

These are just first impressions, no bug reports as I didn't use it much it's been running for about half hour.

I did a manual frugal install of k4.9.71 version (download iso, mount, copy files, add to menu.lst...)

The boot went ok, it loaded fast on this PC, the resolution was set correctly automatically, and I was able to connect on the net, so I would say that all of the hardware was recognized and set at boot.

The default theme looks smooth (wallpaper, jwm, gtk themes chosen all together create a polished look.)

You have a nice selection of apps, I like that you have 3 file managers, but you kept rox as default which is good because it doesn't break puppy scripts and other stuff chained to it. Deadbeef is also nice choice for music player. I was able to install gimp 2.8 from puppy package manager.

All in all it looks as a well made puppy from first sight and I will be happy to switch to it if everything runs smoothly.

@belham2,

Thanks for the kind words. Smile

The Woof-CE devs provide a great framework for debian-based Pups and many Puppy enthusiasts offer advice and direction along the way.

Dpup Stretch is very much a community effort.

@futwerk,

Thanks futwerk. Your artistic contributions have brightened the desktops of many Pups.

@dejan555,

Thanks dejan555 for the initial evaluation. Your experience with debian-based Pups is much appreciated.

This issue is now resolved.

I'll wait a few more days for additional bug reports before posting Dpup Stretch 7.5 Final.

Thanks

In FbBox desktop, when changes are made via rox>options>display, they revert after restartwm or reboot. but not when restart x is used.
I wasn't sure if this was a necessity for FbBox or not.
Everything else is working real good - using murrinedark gtktheme.

EDIT-ADDED: I think I found it in ob autostarts file line 194-197, so I'll leave that alone. When set automatically it works fine.
