Remove DotPup entries on the menu

#1 Post by mwestlund »

How do I remove DotPup entries on the menu once I deleted the package? I restarted the X Server and they are still there! Any assistance would be apprciated. Thanks. -Mark

Removing Dotpup entries

I do it by editing the .jwmrc file (one of the hidden files in your home directory).
A few lines down you should see the line:
<Menu label="dotpups" >
The lines following can be deleted.
(Maybe backup .jwmrc first, then edit.)

I am using 109CE.

Puppy 2.14 does not support the DotPups entry in the menu. A version upgrade will remove it. If you install a DotPup that does create such an entry, it will get removed at next version upgrade or whenever a PET package is installed or removed, or you can manually regenerate the .jwmrc file by executing "fixmenus" -- which will recreate the menu entries from the .desktop files in /usr/share/applications, and any DotPups entries will be gone.

In other words, any DotPup or PET package from now on must have a .desktop file if it's menu entry is to be recognised and permanent.
