So I want to do Camera surveilance work thats why I'm here. See my other posts on this forum

I use zoneminder in a similar fashion. http://farmillriver.rockedge.org/two-tank-view/

One of the cameras is running tahrzone128 on a 2004 IBM thinkpad T42 with no working hard drive and an almost dead battery. Runs from a USB stick. I use a service to sync my dynamic IP to an alias so I can use the internet to see the stream from anywhere in the world. I use a simple <img> tag to embed the stream into a web page for a customized look and function. In the above case a WordPress installation. I have good results using inadyn to do the IP sync in Puppy Linux distros.

Yes thats exactly what I want to do and I'll persevere and hang around if you don't mind . I would relish a bit more detail on how you get it going .

I'm going to boot it up and install Seamonkey and see if I can get past the freezing. I'm using desktops Dells Optiplex 740 and 745's Intel or amd processors . Have a choice from 25 or so Various speeds and memories

Edit well that didn't work. Went into package manager and it offered me an update 6.0.1 which I took . Looked for seamonkey-not there . Looked for Firefox and tried for that -not available even though selectable and dependancies can be seen it won't download . Didn't see any browsers so I started pale moon again and it immediately hung .

I need to have a working browser of course for this surveilance work so I'm stuck atm
Could you possibly answer my questions in full at this point because I can't get started and I have the potential to help you develop this project if I can establish a conversation on it with you .Do you speak English well enough? Maybe I can learn your language

My previous attempts have been on my latest laptop, but using a 4Gb flash-drive as I didn't want to risk trashing the Mint or Wi7 Pro installations on it's hard drive. This works quite well - so it should with an i3 processor and 4Gb RAM! No problems with Pale Moon.

However, I've had a frustrating afternoon trying to install the same version from the same CD on an old, but hardly used, Toshiba Sat Pro with only 512Mb RAM but a sound big Li-Ion battery. The original 20Gb drive is dual boot Mint and XP, not leaving much space for anything else so I substituted a spare 80Gb drive. Created a single ext4 (boot) partition - a mistake as this seemed to cause all sorts of problems. Tried again from scratch as ext3. Hit a variety of problems, installation to HDD needs de-bugging as does the Save to folder. Did get Zoneminder running, but the old Tosh just isn't man-enough everything tooooo slow. Managed to aparrently Save but it insists on creating a sub-folder inside the existing folder that is then ignored next time so I lost all my updates and reverted to the initial settings - (THREE times!) so I've now givenn up on the old Tosh.

I suggest that anyone's starting point should be installation on a flash drive as this works for me but isn't portable between laptops and desktops because the difference in keyboards (USB and PS/2) isn't detected by this version of GRUB so I couldn't select an OS to boot!

the light for the tank on the right is on a timer which fires up the lights during the day. The tank on the left is switched on manually in the morning. Both are in an Eastern Standard Time zone in two separate basements set about 5 miles apart. Brown Trout hatched from eggs then released as they age. Part of the Trout in The Classroom Project. Teaching kids biology, data collection and analysis, discipline and responsibility, conservation and how to do cool stuff with computers. These 2 tanks have the extra eggs and trout fry that did not fnd homes in a school.

Both cameras are cheap USB webcams, one is run by UPUP 3.9.9.2 with a LAMP stack installed piece by piece from the package manager and a compiled zonminder 1.27. The other uses Tahrzone128 running the latest XAMPP and Zoneminder 1.28. In the example above both feeds are embedded by using an <img> tag wrapped in a <div> container in a page in a WordPress install. Inadyn syncs the DYNAMIC IPs to an alias.

Though now some of my friends now use tahrzone128 for home security or watch what the dogs and cats are doing at home while they are away.

I would like to get a digital thermometer that streams data in real time that can use the X10 protocol to trigger a camera recording to record the fish behavior at different water temps and make available like the camera stream(s). (these tanks are cooled to 52 F by home built chillers DIY)

I'll try to work out when that video is lighted or lit during the day .

So on the browser front I have just given up I am afraid . I have spent about 3 hours tonight trying to download and install other browsers as suggested and messing abou in pale moon trying to find the fault before everything freezes.

Just can't beat it so I binned the CD and went to the iso for the full Tahrpup to have a look there . Lo and behold the thing freezes as it is booting up ! Can't even get started in that one .

Loss of mouse is the firs sign then all frozen and Alt Ctl backspace or delete or even F1 to F4 have no effect . Has to be a hard boot with the SDA1 having to be checked through each time

So Adios TAHRZONE and TAHRPUP Into the bin you go -Useless on my Dell Optiplex 740 and 745's -Pity

NoPAE version -. Its an AMD chip in these computers Plenty of memory. It loads up OK but seems to hang going through initrc I think.

The shortened version ran fine as far as I know until I started the pale moon browser.

Here is an example of XAMPP stack running Apache 2.4 or Hiawatha 9.11 with a modified xampp-control-panel.py to include a start / stop button for the Hiawatha server. For the Proftp that is part of the XAMPP package there is gadmin-proftp. Which is a GUI configure manager for ProFTP.

WaryWatcher??
I also have made a PET of ZoneMInder 1.30.4 for Tahr 6.0.5 and 6.0.6 which is here : https://drive.google.com/open?id=0By2RUsFzFaMkdy1VeEpyU0xyVlU
this PET is a one-click installation of ZM. This version uses Hiawatha instead of Apache as the web server.

I also made a Re-master of Tahr 6.0.5 with ZoneMinder 1.30.2 which can be updated to 1.30.4 or the latest via the Puppy Package Manager after updating the repos with the Options->Update
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0By2RUsFzFaMkQkFsQ181VlJDRzQ

just some easy installs of zoneminder which will work out of the box.

The re-master includes phpmyadmin for the mysql management also this remaster as well as the PET will be a usable web server for other applications such as WordPress or Drupal and OwnCloud.

nothing ground breaking but maybe useful.
