Intel video hardware acceleration

#1 Post by Thoranaga »

I have an old Acer laptop E1-531 with Intel integrated video and I'm having trouble running mkv 1080p 60fps movies . On win7 CPU usage is only 5-10% becouse of hardware acceleration on video playback but on Puppy Xenial 7 32bit cpu hits 96% .
I'v instaled mpv 0.27 and used this parameters in mpv.conf --hwdec-codecs=all --vo=vdpau but still no luck . Video plays better but still no full hardware acceleration playback .
Also I installed i965-va-driver_1.7.0-1 and libvdpau-va-gl1_0.3.6-1

Any hints please!

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected

Thank you ! It worked .
I had to uninstall mpv 0.27 i965-va-driver_1.7.0-1 and libvdpau-va-gl1_0.3.6-1 .
After that I installed mpv 0.14 (from repository ) and reinstalled 965-va-driver_1.7.0-1 and libvdpau-va-gl1_0.3.6-1 .
I used this settings in mpv.conf
--resume-playback
--save-position-on-quit
--af=acompressor
--vo=opengl-hq
--hwdec=vaapi

Cpu usage decreased from 68% to aprox. 3-5% .
