Over the final steps when I installed Puppy appear a popup showing an option to upgrade glibc, because security risk, but at the same time advert that upgrading could become problems..

GLIBC UPGRADE - DO IT OR NOT?
The glibc upgrade is a thing which generally has the power of possible breaking some apps or the entire your installation. There are glibc upgrades reported as working and other not. The patched glibc 2.19 of tahrpup is reported not breaking anything in tahr puppy resolving only a security issue. You can upgrade in tahr puppy (yet not tried with xfce): the notice is only a disclaimer. You can also betterly try the glibc upgrade using a backuped savefile and if all works after that then you can upgrade glibc using the main savefile.

If I may suggest something:
Save yourself a lot of trouble:
Instead of trying to upgrade the glibc by yourself for a particular Puppy, upgrade the
entire Pup to the next higher version "within the breed" (e.g., slacko-6 to slacko-7).
That higher version of the Pup will usually have an upgraded glibc.
With this type of small upgrade "within the Puppy breed", another benefit is that you
can usually keep the same pupsave. But make a back-up first, to be safe.

On first run X-Tahr 2.0 offers the option to upgrade glibc, but advises that upgrading could cause problems. I haven't found that to be the case, but there's an easy way to 'have your cake and eat it, too'.
On first shutdown, recent Puppies offer the option to create either a SaveFile or a SaveFolder. So, choose the glibc upgrade, then choose a SaveFile and create a small SaveFile (+/- 200) which will take little time to create. Reboot. See if there's a problem by opening various applications. If no problem, run Menu>Utility>Resize Personal Storage Space or install gyro's savefile2dir-1.6.pet available here: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 673#855673; then run it.
Obviously, if there's a problem, boot "pfix=ram", delete the SaveFile and start again.
