Have the computer shutdown.
Plug everything in and boot the computer.

Puppy may or may not discover the new monitor when Puppy is running and you plug it in.

On a cold boot up the computer is searched for all connected devices and the monitor should be seen.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

I meant when the laptop is in operation. I get the display pop-up window when I plug-in the cable. My question's when it's better to turn it on - before or after plugging in the cable to the laptop?

What does the monitors manual say?

My monitors manual says to plug it into the computer, before powering the monitor on.

I still say it is a good idea to do as I stated in my earlier post.

Monitors are not designed to be hot pluggable devices.

I don't have a manual 4 this one.
Thanks

Google search can bring up about any manual, you need, for about any computer or computer hardware.
