Changing desktop text label colours (PuppyPin) ?? [SOLVED]

#1 Post by paulh177 »

Is it possible to change the colour of the text labels of icons on the Puppy desktop?

I like a dark background, but the text labels under icons are still rendered as black, making them virtually unreadable.

I'd like them to render as white or pale grey.

Running Tahr, so PuppyPin is XML, but my google-fu has deserted me and I'm unable to find any documentation on how text labels work a la PuppyPin.

any clues?

thanks

Try right clicking a desktop icon and choosing Rox-Filer -> Options -> Pinboard

Just to make it a little clearer on what you change.

To change the color of the fonts on the desktop icons:
Right click on a icon
Rox-filer->options->pinboard->appearance
Change the foreground color to what you like.
Hit OK when you are done.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected
YaPI(any iso installer)

Ha!
Thanks trapster.

I've used Puppy for so long now, and almost the only thing that has ever really bugged me about it is how much of a faff it is to go about modifying the UI :)

Having to tweak several different files and use different apps and pets to effect changes in such closely related things as comprise the UI, and remember what all of them are, has been an exercise in frustration.

The `JWM DesktopManager` is a Great Leap Forward, but this one feature (and how to change it) had escaped me completely.

integrating ROX feature pinboard management into the JWM DM would be an excellent win if someone were to put it into a pup.

cheers!

Yep.

For even more detail, in case someone tips over this thread i n search of answers, the configuration files that control appearance are in

/root/.config/rox.sourceforge.net/ROX-Filer/

The main config file is named

Options

nb case of file and directory names are as above.
