corepup is a tinycore base
with modifications and puppy and other stuff added to it
hopefully combining the advantages of both

the reason is that tinycore
is a minimal and modular system
that allows modifications to be snapped in and out like leggos

puppy is great
but its system is difficult and time consuming to modify

especially with woof-ce
that takes a guru and many hours even to use

even the remaster programs take quite a bit of time
and lump everything together
so components are all intertwined
and cant be snapped in and out after they are meshed

corepup is for people that want a
simple and fast alternative to building a puppy like distro

components can be added and removed in seconds
rather than hours
and stay modular so they can be worked on independently
and reinserted later

thats why i started this project
so that the puppy community can be made aware
that there is an alternative system to build "puppies"
or whatever you want to call them

look at and play with one of the tinycore isos
in the link in the first post
and you will soon see what im talking about

well back to playing with corepup

good luck

my apologies; i knew there was a tinycore-based pup, but i forgot it was called corepup. yes, it should be obvious...

congrats on corepup; i used dsl and was told about tinycore by robert personally. i think i heard of your tinycore pup a year or two ago, and its a great idea.

@AndresC2, nonsystemdthanks

If you go back a page and look at his posts on June 6 and 7, wanderer mentions his intention to post the corepups when they ready. So presumably, he's still working on it.

I am working on some corepup isos to post on this thread
the delay is that I work with an iso on usb not cd
and I have to change the boot loader to isolinux from syslinux
and this has been causing some problems with the cd loading
will sort this out soon

however

do not wait for my corepup isos

that is the beauty of this system
and why I posted the official tinycore isos

just download one of the official isos
and add apps (or other stuff) to the iso
by downloading or making a tcz

the only 2 other files that I change
are syslinux.cfg in the boot directory
and tc-config in the core.gz image

syslinux.cfg sets up the boot loader to load to the corepup version
and tc-config sets up the services
like init in puppy

I leave the rest alone to keep things simple
and maintain compatibility with tinycore
which is still being actively developed

there is an infinite number of modifications and additions
that can be made
but all you have to do is play with the basic system
to see how everything works

you can add puppy functions
either by making a tcz
or by adding a boot code or function to tc-config

so you only need to know how to
open and close the core.gz
and make a tcz

simple fast and elegant

I will now continue on my mission
will post again very soon

excelsior

finally

i have posted the corepup-1.iso on the thread

however i had to cut some corners with isomaster
so i couldnt include the corepup isolinux.cfg file

so when it boots you will have to change
desktop=jwm
to
desktop=corepup-jwm

see if it works for you

will keep working on it of course

do not be fooled by my pathetic attempt

this is an incredibly powerful and flexible system

even i have done many interesting things

not only its modular design
but the fact that it uses symlinks rather than a unionfs
allows for incredible modifications

see you soon
