Subject description: 32 and 64 bit FileManager

Good day to all

With nothing better to do, I compiled these packages of xfe-1.42

This is not my favorite filemanager, I prefer PCManFM; however it needs to be available as a choice.

Code:
Xfe is a Microsoft Explorer-like file manager for X. It is based on
the popular, but discontinued, X Win Commander, originally developed
by Maxim Baranov.  Xfe aims to be the file manager of choice for all
light-thinking UNIX addicts!

***Each "*.tar.gz" includes both xfe-1.42 and its dependency fox-toolkit-1.6.54

To not be warned with "running as root": Edit > preferences > Dialogs > uncheck "Warn if running as root"

The 32-bit version has been tested on slacko-6999 & bionic-beaver

Download 32bit:

xfe-1.42_fox-toolkit-1.6.54-i686.tar.xz 2.7 MB
MD5: 54a2dab3ee34b9c325d32181c81be272

The 64-bit version compiled/tested on xenial64-7.5
Download 64bit:
https://www.datafilehost.com/d/378d79ea
xfe-1.42_fox-toolkit-1.6.54-x86_64.tar.xz 2.7 MB

bliss,

XFE is the only one of the major file managers that has a "go to parent" at the top of the file list. This makes it so you can navigate to anywhere with just the up arrow, down arrow, and enter key. This makes it practical to use with a remote control. With a little messing around, you can make it into a usable (but not perfect) 10 foot interface.

Hi !

If one could mount Devices/Partitions .....XFE would be nearly perfect .

Sadly SpaceFm Filemanager causes Problems when copying ,,,,,stalls sometimes while copying ....this is an absolute No-Go ,,,,,otherwise SpaceFm would be my Favorite .

Thanks Festus !

By the way, neither can Rox. I didn't realize that until your post and I tried. I'm used to clicking the desktop drive icon to mount (and open) its associated drive. With rox as file-manager, the mounting/unmounting of drives is actually handled by pmount (/usr/sbin/pmount).

There's supposed to be a way to have XFE mount/unmount drives since 1.4.2. But I can't figure it out. Thunar, used by Xfce does it. I wonder if Thunar can be ported to other than xfce?

Hello backi and all.

I wrote this a while back.

It has an absurd sense of humor: if you query a partition and it does not
exist, it tells you: "I DO NOT EXIST!" This script is spooky.

That post also contains a little more information.

What does it do? It mounts an unmounted disk or partition and unmounts a mounted disk or partition.

The first time you run it, it links itself to /root/.config/rox.sourceforge.net/OpenWith/.inode_mount-point.

Bye guys.

I tried this on tahrpup 6.0.6 32 bit. It installed, but when trying to run, it reports that it is missing shared library libpng16.so.16.
