PostPosted: Fri 22 Jun 2018, 18:18    Post subject:  How to uninstall Slacko installed by Windows Installer?
Subject description: cannot find uninstaller in Puppy or Windows XP

Reason for removing Slacko: my XP model freezes too much with Slacko

PC model: Vaio/Athlon no PAE

OS: Win XP and Slacko 6.3.0 dual boot

How Slacko was installed: by windows installer

Previous attempt:
after extensive web search, no solution was found

someone said, you could uninstall from WinXP control panel > App uninstall

however, Slacko did not show up in the app list

On Puppy, could not figure out how to uninstall Slacko

Additional trouble:
My PC is old and CD-ROM drive does not function any longer

Thank you for your help

What Windows installer?

I will take a guess.
Look on the hard drive for a folder that is named something like slacko630 or anything with slacko in the name.
If you find one.
What is in it?

Thank you for your quick response.

I cannot find the original windows installer file which was typical .exe format.

Do I need to find the same installer just to uninstall 6.3.0 version?

I was so confused about LICK program.

Any other things that I missed, kindly adivse please.

Thank you again.

Usually there is a directory on the windows partition which includes a file named puppy_slacko_6.3.0.sfs (or very similar). This directory can be removed without any danger - so, Slacko Puppy is uninstalled then.

On drive C:\ there is a text file (can't recall its name atm) which is used for to boot Windows or to boot either Windows or Slacko (after installing Slacko Puppy).

There may be any entry of booting Slacko. Could you just post its content here?

There will not and cannot be a Windows uninstaller for it in the way that you are thinking, mainly because it is NOT a program running under Windows.

I was so confused about LICK program.

So, you used Lick to do the install.

Here is the documentation on Lick.
https://github.com/noryb009/lick/blob/master/doc/pages/mainpage.md
At the bottom is info on uninstalling.

If you have any questions, you should post them in the Lick topic, so the developer can see them.
