Is there a sound equalizer in Puppy?

#1 Post by nick21 »

Hello,

I learn a foreign language and I wish to hear more better the sound, but, unfortunately, my audio speakers do not hear very well, I think that I need a audio mixer for eliminate the bass and background noise. Have somebody an idea? What free software is necessary to install?

Hello nick21.

I know that the aqualung music player has an equalizer plug-in.

But off the top of my head, I don't think the ex-factory Puppy comes with one.

Maybe with PMusic? (Can't remember.)

Bye for now.

In some Puppies, you can enable the ALSA equalizer by creating/modifying the hidden file /root/.asoundrc

Code: Select all

### these three lines enable the regular sound card ###

defaults.pcm.card 0
defaults.pcm.device 0
defaults.ctl.card 0

##################

ctl.equal {
 type equal;
}

pcm.plugequal {
  type equal;
  slave.pcm "plughw:0,0";
}

pcm.equal{
  type plug;
  slave.pcm plugequal;
}

### these two lines enable the equalizer ###

#pcm.!default pcm.equal
#ctl.!default ctl.equal
Comment out the top three lines and uncomment the bottom two.

Open a terminal and run: alsamixer

VLC has an excellent builtin equalizer/booster and other effects. I use it for playing music and videos.

M?dor gave the answer for Audacious

#10 Post by hamoudoudou »

just information where to pick equalizer settings for audacious, french topic.. Just a feed back.. I i had trouble i search for solutions, and i am used to no help.
Some users were looking for equalizer in civil world, M?dor gave the answer for Audacious, i link this topic to him.
Presets are more than those appearing in screenshot..
Audacious until now had no presets included, you must look for them and install them.
Nota ; before asking if Puppy has a sound equalizer, better it would have been just to type 'equalizer' in search tool.. Answers are a lot.
I i find solutions without disturbing Linux programmers, many users should find as well.

2011 The new equalizer depends on pEqualizer (by 01micko) Zigbert topic

The only dumb question is the one you do not ask!
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected :shock:

Hi nick21.

bigpup is right.

Besides, it is never wrong to revisit a question, however simple. I am supposed to be an
experienced Puppyist, and by golly, browsing this thread, I learned a couple of things I
did not know about sound mixers!

Have a great day! :)

I install a lot of equalizers (asmixer, cam, dbmix_0.9.8, jack-mixer10, ardour_4.6, audacity_2.1.2-1,aumix and so an) but, unfortunately, in Puppy (except for volume) do not work with youtube, google translate.

Unfortunately not all puppies have it ! bionic pup and dpup stretch seems provided without jazzy options...
pets installed.. GUI ok with for options.. Does that work ? That is the question. Time spent would have been lost time if no effect on my songs..
