Quote:
Both tools save files in WAV, OGG, or MP3. (Sound-Editor presently reads only WAV-files.) SoundRecEd is not a full-blown professional mixer application. However, it provides functions that are frequently desired by casual users.

Run via Menu->Multimedia->SoundEditor, or SoundRecorder, or run sound_editor or sound_recorder in a console.

N.B1 Being OpenGL-based they won't work unless you have a functioning OpenGL environment.

N.B2 SndRec also has commandline options...see here for info.

I have packaged this as ch-SoundRecEd_1.4.sfs. It works very well in ChoicePup which has OpenGl. Thanks muggins

Assuming you're using pup4 series, download & install xorg_xorg_full_dri-7.3.pet. Then probably reboot required to activate.

Subject description: No sound when clicking on "Test Play"

Hi,
nice tiny record tool ! thanks a lot ! seems much simple than audacity
on puppy 412 + xorg_xorg_7.3_full_dri.pet working
Code:
# glxinfo
name of display: :0.0
display: :0  screen: 0
direct rendering: Yes
server glx vendor string: SGI
server glx version string: 1.2
...

It records file from sound card output: doing
Code:
aplay new_recording.wav
in a console
gives OK audible output on speakers;
but clicking on "Test Play" do not give anything
Code:
# sound_editor
Sound-Editor 1.4

Using OTK - V0.85

Scanning file: 'new_recording.wav'
Expect 2059540 samples.  Averaging 2575 samples per graph-point.  (Each point represents average over 0.0536458 second.)
npoints = 799,   n=2115,        nsamples=2059540
MaxValue = 32768, MeanValue = 19165.7
   Replacing outfname with new '/tmp/snded_tmps.9So1Gd'
        Original buffer length = 2059540 samples.
Writing 144000 samples.
new_total_time = 0 : 3

gain_setting = 1.000000, limiting = 1.000000
nsamples=144000
sh: play: command not found

Quiting:
 Destroying tmp_workfname '/tmp/snded_tmps.9So1Gd'
#

Test sound_editor on existing mp3 files:
: nothing to hear !
console message=
Code:
Using OTK - V0.85
Scanning file: 'Caledonia.mp3'
Issuing: 'lame.exe --decode Caledonia.mp3 /tmp/snded_tmps.SpWJgM'
sh: lame.exe: command not found
Error1: Header does not look like compatible wave file.

how to fix that?
thanks for any advice
cheers
Charlie
