Macpup Opera / Macpup Opera061

#1 Post by runtt21 »

Prit and I are proud to release a new E17 pup. Macpup Opera is based on Ttuuxxx's 4.2v2 Deeper thought(2.6.25.16), a "no Bling" version of puppylinux 4.2 with all of the current updates. It has dbus 1.2.4 compiled and installed from source and the Enlightenment e17 desktop version 0.17.999.060 compiled and installed from source with the updated version of librsvg 2.26.0 . Also included is the Opera 9.64 browser compiled by Ttuuxxx.Works with both Xorg and Xvesa video drivers. Runs all the latest e17 themes and backgrounds. There is an option on the exit menu to switch back to jwm, if required. Once again as with all our e17 pups use the exit icon on the desktop to shutdown or reboot.

The download page also has a video demo of macpup opera:

http://macpup.org/opera.php

Thanks to Barry,Mu,Puppyluvr,Whodo , Sneekylinux& CatDude.

A special Thank you to Ttuuxxx!!!Prit and I have always included apps and themes and things by ttuuxxx cause he makes the best stuff!! He did a great Job on the 4.2v2 No bling Puppy and I just loved the idea of giving it maximum Bling.

Click on the " i "icon to check ram .And use the Top hat to set up internet connections.Application Menus update by themselves. You can still have a different background on each desktop. And set up the shelves differently on each desktop but this time I set them all up the same. The .iso is 131 mb. It's amazing I built a pup under 170 mb.

For those that just want a e17 .pet I have made one this time and will be releasing it to.

Enjoy!!

We will continue to use this thread for Macpup opera 061 :

exit info

#3 Post by runtt21 »

Once again use the blue exit icon on the Ibar to shutdown, reboot, switch to Jwm etc.... If you do switch back, stay in jwm a while before switching to e17.There is a short delay before the pinboard loads for jwm.

#4 Post by sneekylinux »

well i have been playing with it for a little while, and guess what,i ain't broke it yet.......
but im sure i will in the end......
but macpup opera is the best yet,it is stable and fast, and zooms past even the the original pup,
i will have a video ready to view by sat/sun so you can see how good this pup is.
as im on the outside,i could say that puppy is doing a good job for linux,if i was on the outside i would say that we have a pup giving birth to a lot of pups....now discuss.........lol

anamited icons

#6 Post by runtt21 »

Here are my first attempts at making animated icons. To use them unpack the .tar.gz in the root folder. Them right click on an icon in ibar and click changed icon properties, then in the desktop entry editor that opens click on the square on the left side , It will be black if the app has no icon, or it will show the current icon.In the next window called "select an icon" go to the new folder that you unpacked and select one of the new icons then OK , Then in the desktop editor press apply .

To turn it on, menu-settings-modules , select flame and press load module. to turn it off unload the module. Running this will increase your cpu usage. You can change the flame type in the settings window under look , click on flame and the config window will open, Use the advanced settings to change color.

This is a little digital type clock that goes on the shelf. Good if you dont want the big analog clock on the desktop. Both this Module and the calendar module go in the same folder as the others, After you load the module you need to add it to a shelf to use it.

Macpup Opera and Latitude cpi?

#16 Post by wpaule »

I am playing with the MacPup Opera, on a Dell Latitude CPI and for some reason the video player does not seem to work in Opera. When I go to the MacPup website and click on the demo for opera, the viewer area goes white, and does nothing.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

cheers, paul

Opera uses the same flash as puppy 4.2 uses , It is working fine for me ,video play back and sound. I am running it live off the download test cd right now and I just check the macpup site and you tube. Either you have a bad download and need to download it again or look for an updated version of flash here on the forum , there are several.

About a month ago I saw a request for a phases of the moon app for Pwidgets . E17 has a module for that also. After loading the module add it to the shelf to turn it on.

Thanks for the reply. The problem seems to be specific to the Latitude CPI as the same disk works fine in my Panasonic Toughbook CF-28. Perhaps the older slower cpu and possible smaller memory could be an issue.

Is there a Macpup Opera for older hardware?

cheers, Paul
