FileMaker is the ONLY database I consistently recommend to my clients. It is every bit as powerful as Acce$$, much cheaper, and a whole lot easier to use; intuitive is the word.

I love the ability to search on the whole or part content of ANY field without creating a formal "Query", embed images in data records without any drama, create forms straight from wp documents, usable as an SQL front end (make that MySQL and we're laughin' here), etc.

Sad to say that FMPro isn't available on any platform except Mac OS or Window$. How hard can it be to port when it runs so beautifully under Wine? *sigh* Maybe one day. :?
Did you ever had a look at

I used Filemaker a lot for simple database applications, I never tryed glom, but when I have time I like to give it a try....

No, I'd never even heard of it but on your recommendation I had a look! Wow! FileMaker Pro for linux!!!!!

I'll certainly be giving it a more detailed look ASAP. Thanks for that.

Cheers

It seems a small application, but needs a lot of libraries, this results that users like me can't easaly install it, even applications like Filemaker are made for end-users without any experiance in programming or compiling applications.

If somebody could create a .pup of it, glom could heve a nice future for Puppy. In my search to this kind of database applications I also found a access lookalike named rekall.

Let me know what's you impression....

Thanks Hendrikus

Oh yeah, I love it! Any chance you might create a dotpup of your theme for uploading into our Icewm themes list?

Here is a screenshot of my desktop using Guest Too's IceVista2 with a modified application button and double height taskbar (I'm old and blind enough to need 48x icons and double height taskbars these days :D )

:D Very impressive customisation.

Do you find the setup workable (do you use it)?

Oooh . . . who cares . . . pimp it.

kids today! now i know how my mom feels in front of my computer... that's the difference between me and a lot of people... they want 3d tilted windows (on the computer, not a car...) and i just want to turn the clock off! i just "modded" <clock format=" "> and now *I'm* thrilled with my "custom job" :)

i have cleaned up some of the icons tho... that pixel on the one for rxvt is gone, thankfully ;)

I cannot see the last picture in the message, but if I click here it works:

I'll try to embed it:

Is that the Metisse from my dotpup?
Did it work without tweaks?

Great work, how you customized it :D

Hello Everybody!

I'm a bit new here, but I've just spent an evening playing with Ultra IceWm and the Greenbuntu theme and thought I'd show you all the results. I think it looks rather gorgeous even if I do say so myself...

(sorry for the multiple images)

Incidentally, I've been lurking around this forum for well over 18 months. I must check it nearly everyday to see how my favourite distro is progressing. I think I started pleasuring myself with puppies back at version 0.9.3 or something.

install and tweaking...

pupwin98 + upgrade to 2.11 - trash and xlock icons + wine and piki
running xmplay for windows (gpl mp3+ogg)
uses same playlist for puppy and windows for people like lobster and me (who still use win for something)

cropped the default wallpaper, stretched to 1024x768 and changed the hue to bluish, and removed the icon and menu labels (the menu button is still there) and the clock.

seamonkey opens faster :)
