Lob,

thanks for clarification.

Postfs1,

I'm at a loss as to what to say....are your posts heavily encrypted?

My ranting on alchemy is encrypted but completely open. It is hidden by being revealed. That other lobster was interested in alchemy too . . .

A)http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/postin ... 687#486687(LAST SENTENCE)

B)One of the created by me topics with the links onto created by me youtube channel was deleted some time ago on this forum. That topic was here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/index.php?f=63
Youtube.com is not for bots i guess.

C)For final assurance, you can try to make a real donation to me, i.e. like a pedestrians do. It was a joke.
i'm still not convinced and demand a turing test!

*edit*

and if i'm still not satisfied then maybe even a Voight-Kampff test!!

Actually, postfs1 is one of my favorite posters. Don't always understand what he's talking about, but it's always creative. :D

Here is most of a message I received by hushmail
and had to answer a secret message just to access
- oh boy . . .
https://www.hushmail.com/
install kalgebra_4.4.2 using the "Puppy Package Manager". The
download

went OK.

However, when I started to check (examine) dependencies as
recommended,

the thing started to search all my hard disks WHICH WERE NOT
MOUNTED.

Alarmed, I immediately killed the network power and thought "What
is going on? Is there some spyware built into the system, someone
utilizing a vulnerably, or
a bug in the system?"
I have been using Puppy for some months and was starting to really
like

what I thought was a pretty secure system that would not allow
access to

my hard disks when I was connected to the web, so I am pretty
disappointed
that I now have to run it on a system without any hard disks to
feel safe.

Since you seem to be involved in the development of Puppy and I
found a post from you on the "Forum index » Off-Topic Area »
Security" page, I thought that you would be trustworthy and at
least know who to contact if a vulnerably needs fixing.
I wouldn't trust myself with a tin of sardines.
Let us hope it is something serious so the security buffs have something
to panic over . . . 8)

Come on Lobster. You didn't even check out his report by trying the install yourself. What kind sleuth are you?

Surely when you shoulder the mantle of the paranoiac, you have to take on some responsibility. It seems to me that the correspondent who confided in you deserves better, as do your rapt readers, among them yours truly.

It seems to me
If adopting paranoid mantles I would not trust my opinions - let alone anyone elses . . .

Meanwhile . . . if running Puppy Lucid (you need the Ubuntu compatibility), those wishing to play detective and try Zenmap can get it here:

Hi guys,

Paranoia can strike any time. Whilst answering another thread
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 300#492300
I suddenly felt the need to install a secure OS.
I was thinking of either Pardus or Open-BSD
However Pardus was started by Turkey Govt security services.
If they had the sense they were born with, they would compromise the system,
release that for the rest of Turkey and the world and harden their version.
So not that.

Open-BSD next version should be out in a week or two.
I did not have or feel too interested in creating a primary partition.
Also my plans for world domination are perhaps best aired publicly . . .
Open-BSD will be slower than Puppy, probably too slow.
Maybe I need a tail?

Paranoia v apathy?
Apathy wins

BSD has a FBI back-door . Can't remember the source of this info. Might have been this forum.

Yes we had a link to it in security or maybe in offtopic.

Here is some info about Open BSD
Did not realise they were funded by Darpa for a while
http://news.cnet.com/8301-31921_3-20025767-281.html

Rather than a Puppy security audit,
I am wondering what weird and wonderful security measures to employ
for the fretful?

Ideas by carrier pigeon to the usual location

Puppy Linux
Less secure than Open BSD

In my Black Ops Puppy (BOP) efforts
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 700#492700
came across some interesting tips
Backtrack Linux users (grey hat crackers)
run as root, especially if running from live DVD
. . . and they are professionally paranoid . . .

For pre-emptive security, attack your own system with attackpup
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 022#421022

Right click on the internet connection icon (bottom right)
and disconnect/or connect to the Internet at will (works in Lucid 5.2)
I was going to write a program to do this
but it exists for always on connections . . .
Obvious security measure really

Puppy Linux
for GNU
