version 1.3.5
Dear green_dome,
Wow, that was quick!. As usual, it works like a charm. I am still trying to find an app that uses animated cursors, since they apparently work now in this version.
With kind regards,
vovchik

If you know what you're doing, you might only need the main Wine .pet (wine-1.3.5-i486.pet, in this case). Normal end-users might just need the main .pet and the documentation.
At least, I've only used the main .pet.
green_dome: Thanks! I'm still working out how to compile things with my particular setup, myself... is there a good place to find dev packages, or do I have to resort to the Ubuntu and similar archives, for that?

Wine 1.3.6 is out
Dear green_dome,
Again, if we could avail ourselves of your services for 1.3.6, which just came out... This version finally has support for X11 cursors, which means X11 cursor themes should work (http://www.winehq.org/announce/1.3.6).
Many thanks in advance,
vovchik

When compiling, I used
Menu entries, Color Setter, and other stuff I got from the file 'winegoodies.tar.gz' provided by forum member 'technosaurus'. The only changes I made to the contents of that file were to delete the file 'Wine_regedit.desktop'. That appears to be a duplicate file. I also deleted the file 'winetricks' and replaced it with the updated one.

Makoto,
I have found .dev files usually by google searching for a specific application. Notice the files I used when compiling Wine are from a few different websites. I am always on the lookout for other places that host .dev files.
<Ref.>is there a good place to find dev packages, or do I have to resort to the Ubuntu and similar archives, for that?

Great work
Dear green_dome,
Works splendidly and we can finally use our normal X11 cursors. This is the first version to support them, so I am pleased. Wine is really developing nicely....
Thanks and kind regards,
vovchik

Not sure if this is the right place to ask.
I use wine for Spotify streaming music.
I have lupu234 and use the Wine that they have in the Quickpet so
maybe an older version than what you guys talks about now.
I wonder about wine and security. When I listen to Spotify makes that my computer more open then if I just surf only using linux?
1. Suppose me never install wine. Is that safer than a puppy with wine?
2. Suppose I install wine on another puppy named puppywine
and only use that one to listen to Spotify. Me rebooting into that one.
3. Suppose me surf in linux browser and wine is only in the background but not activated other than that it start if I click on a .exe file.
Can the intruder still make use of the wine to install in the background TRojan that make use of wine to keylog and such bad things?

Thanks indeed. Have read almost all of it and find it very interesting.
It support my naive suggestion that one should use two frugal install of the preferred puppy.
One without wine and one with. So one have the one without as the main puppy and then the few times when one need Wine then one reboot and boot into the wine featured puppy.
That way one are only exposed to such exploits when one are using wine and not as now all the time.
If one want to be really sure one should do as Flash and others that always use CD or DVD and don't access any HDD.
I guess they transfer important files as backup to external HDD when needed.
that seems to be the most secure behavior.
As I have now wine can be exploited all the time.
So I have to thing this through.
I should move Firefox out of pupsave so I can always use regardless of which puppy I use.
Can Sylpheed email client be moved outside pupsave too?
Sorry if I derail the Wine thread but wine security is a bit on topic but maybe should have its own thread. But I am satisfied now. I've got the answers I needed.

Yeah, I was hoping for more of a basic repository, too. Any place that hosts dev files would probably have to keep them fairly updated and/or host multiple versions, right?green_dome wrote:I have found .dev files usually by google searching for a specific application.
