Whats your updates consist of? I'm not replacing anything that could cripple the system, This is just a quick bug fix release
could your updates be tar.gz or tar.bz2 4 series doesn't have 7z or xarchiver, just xarchive.
hmmm I need to focus mostly on the bugs and get this release finalized.

Ok, bz2 it is. The updates are for apps like asunder, wget, gparted ,aqualung, etc and a few libs.

As with stu90 and abushcrafter, I also get Puppy thinking I am upgrading and saying it is restoring original files.
And they seem to be related to cups.

kmap-1.14.1 keymaps

There is a peculiar problem with the keymaps of 4.3.1. For keymaps using latin 1 encoding (de,dk,fi,fr,no,se, etc) non-ascii characters are not shown correctly in all circumstances. In Swedish "å" is such a character. The problem is related to the fact that there are two places where the keyboard is defined. The choice of keymap at the initial boot (console keyboard layout) and the xorg kbd keyboard driver. The problem is tricky to reproduce and people using us-keyboard will never encounter it.
However, in Woof Barry has most likely solved the problem.

Replacing /usr/share/kdb with /lib/keymaps has an additional advantage. If a user needs a keymap which isn't offered at initial boot, she can install the complete set of kmap-1.14.1 keymaps using the enclosed pet. This remedy also works in puppies derived from Woof.
Suggestion
Use the woof versions of Keyboard Wizard and rc.country.
The pertinent changes in rc.country is
#091122 merge kmap mods from ecube, maps now in /lib/keymaps, /lib/consolefonts.
#100127 added sv.
Replace the /lib/keymaps and /lib/consolefonts with the woof versions and discard the /usr/share/kbd directory
If you decide to make the changes, please check that you can choose from the complete set of keymaps using "Change the mouse and keyboard"

it provides soft shut down and suspend mostly for laptops
(Works well in both Quirky013 and StarDust013)
but if you called the suspend.sh from your desktop pc, it probably works as well

For a fix to Puppy 432 thinking it is upgrading from 431 when you boot,
I found that you did change the file /etc/puppyversion to show 432, but /etc/DISTRO_SPECS still showed 431.
As a test, I changed it to show 432 and was able to boot without it thinking I was upgrading from 431.
But Puppy wrote over the DISTRO_SPECS file and it again showed 431.
So It needs to be changed in the SFS file to make it permanent.

yes that was one of the first changes for v3, should be out either today or tomorrow.

..can't install a samba networked cups printer. Loading the cups fix didn't help. I haven't seen this problem with other derivatives for the same setup.

Tuxx,
I just got through downloading and installing Pizzasgood's edit_sfs-2.1.pet and installing it on another puppy version of 421 SCSI.
I then used it to make the minor modification to the pup432.sfs file in the /etc/DISTRO_SPECS file.
I then copied the completed file back to my frugal install replacing the original SFS file.
It worked really good.
Now I do not have the message of updating Puppy when I boot.
I never knew of Pizzasgood's file and it looks like it can come in handy to modify a SFS file.
So until your next update release, I am set.
