I switched to using Racy 5.3 instead of Wary 5.3 and now Opera works fine with the Flashplayer. So I would guess that it might be something to do with the graphics driver, as Racy uses a newer X.Org.

I also noticed that in Wary 5.3 I only get a small green square in the task bar beside the speaker icon. In Racy 5.3 I get a nice red O for Opera. This also indicates some rendering issues of Opera under Wary 5.3.

it's working great in saluki 0.21. i am just wondering why the systray icon of opera is not transparent? is this normal behaviour? thanks

I tried watching some videos and the plugins don't work.

Just as a feedback to my previous problem with flashplayer in Opera under Wary 5.3

I tried Lucid 5.2.8 with the same Opera-SFS and the flashplayer doesn't work with the graphics driver (intel) which is auto loaded during boot. But if I use xorgwizard and change to vesa the flashplayer works fine in Opera. So it seems the culprit is the intel graphics driver.

I'm using Opera 12 sfs in Solidpup and flash isn't working.
Opera detects the flash plugin, but websites still say that flash isn't enabled.
I've tried everything, including the Solidpup missinglibs.pet

I don't know what Solidpup is. Does it have Seamonkey? Flash with Opera requires mozilla libs which are included in Seamonkey. If not, you need to add the libs.

Which flashplayer version are you using? Have you tried the pets described in this thread:

I have updated the Opera SFS to version 12.01 (build 1532). This contains bug fixes and security fixes.

I have seen no problems with Opera 12.01 and lots of bugs in version 11.xx are fixed.

LATER: the problem with out of process plugins causing freezes on some pages occurs in the Windows version only and it is currently being addressed by Opera devs. There is no problem on Linux.

I have updated the Opera SFS to version 12.02 (build 1578). This contains bug fixes and stability fixes.

I unpacked opera 12.02 in /initrd/mnt/dev_save.

/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so (I tried both 10 and 11) is working in Firefox 8 and Seamonkey 2.0.14 but not in Opera 11.52 or 12.02, where the plugin is not detected though the other plugins (gxine etc) are (preferences advanced content).

Puppy 4.3.1 kernel 2.6.21.7 DELL D600 1.6GHz (recently unthrottled with cpufreq to avoid a hardware problem). Xvesa. Intel.

Also have a frequent mouse problem - moves but clicking does nothing. Happens only in Opera seemingly randomly. Might Xorg fix both problems?

Someone else reported flash being detected but not working.

Switched to Xorg, which now offers to let me use HTML5. Opera is listed as supporting WebM (Opera 10.6+) but the linux version seems not to do that.

Youtube still tells me to Upgrade Flash (or use HTML5) and archive.org suggest that flash is disabled or needs upgrading.

Why might Opera (not installed but unpacked) not detect all the plugins?

ldd /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
reveals a bunch of missing libraries, which are found in either firefox
or seamonkey (top directory - I had not installed the packages but just
unpacked them in /mnt/hda8).
Edit the LD_LIBRARY_PATH in /etc/profile, adding at the end before the "
the location of firefox or seamonkey after a : (in my case :/mnt/hda8/firefox").
Reboot (or do whatever else might make linux recognize the new profile).
I had already posted the solution for Pulp linux. Opera apparently expects these libraries to be present while Mozilla browsers are supplied with them.
Opera will not recognize plugins with missing supporting libraries.

You could, instead, copy the missing libraries to /usr/lib, but then they won't get updated when you update the Mozilla browsers.

Does the 12.02 SFS file come with these libraries?
