Note: this fix was also necessary - and successfull - when upgrading from fluppy 007 to 010.ecube wrote:Merge the files /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin and PuppyPin.orig. Here is bibletime. The qt SFS is required to make it work.maxpro4u wrote:Just did a full install of fluppy-works great! sfs installer works-added chrome and scanner-printer sfs.
Is there any way to get bibletime to work on fluppy?

It seems to be something funky with the wl driver. I'm not sure why it's behaving erratically. Here's part PM conversation with Jamesbond.Roy wrote:Jemimah,
Sorry if this has already been brought to your attention, but if not...
I am running Fluppy010 in a Frugal configuration and cannot connect to any WPA-PSK-TKIP-CCMP network. Editing the saved profile does not save the required passphrase and continues to show the individual networks as "Open" (even though the main 'Configure Wireless Networks' shows them as encrypted).
The unencrypted networks all work fine, and I installed your frisbeefix-2.pet after stumbling upon this issue, but to no avail. WPA networks are still a no-go for me. dmesg doesn't show anything out of the ordinary at this time, although I am connected to an unencrypted network as I type this post.

What is the output of " /usr/local/sbin/wpa_cli scan_results -i eth0" on your system? Make sure that results are showing in Frisbee before running the command.
I hope you didn't make a typo there, because when I run that command, the result is absolutely nothing (it came back to # prompt - no other output).
That's odd because where is the data coming from for the scan window then?
Yes, I can see the "wirelesss" SSID shown in Frisbee's main window (like the screenshot I passed to you earlier) - I run the wpa_cli command when the window is still there.
It should at least come back with something like:
Then if you run it a few times some new results:Code: Select all
/usr/local/sbin/wpa_cli scan_results -i wlan0 bssid / frequency / signal level / flags / ssid
Code: Select all
/usr/local/sbin/wpa_cli scan_results -i wlan0 bssid / frequency / signal level / flags / ssid 00:22:75:ce:1a:24 2412 165 [WEP] Belkin_Home
Nothing like this, unfortunately
You need to worry more about what's running on your home box than what runs on the netbook. I'd think long and hard before connecting a Puppy machine to the internet as a server - it's not really designed for that purpose. At the very least, use a firewall, and don't run exposed services as root if you can avoid it.edoc wrote:Is anyone using the remote desktop apps in Fluppy?
It seems a natural to carry a Netbook with Fluppy and "beam home" for resources stashed on the "big computer" there.
I am just wondering how well they work and your sense of the security features.
A recent post to this thread is what triggers the question:

Apology if this has been discussed before ...
I usually don't do remaster but I just did once for my friend last night. His idea is to remaster the current settings, and then run pfix=ram with the remastered version afterwards (no further save file).
I helped him to remaster - we booted from frugal install, with flpsave.3fs, then we remastered to a flp-010.sfs only. Remaster setup:
1. Copy all the junk (not pristine)
2. Copy /root, but don't copy /etc alone
3. Create flp-010.sfs only
Remaster finished ok. We then booted with the new flp-010.sfs with pfix=ram. This worked ok also.
Problem happened when trying to reboot. As the remastered version was shutting down, it automatically created a flpsave.3fs, overwriting the existing flpsave.3fs *without even asking*.
cheers!

Samba
Does shinobar's samba 3.5.6 sfs for lucid work on fluppy? He says it doesn't work on puppy4 but you have done a lot of updating on fluppy.

new desktop icons
I modified the hard drive desktop icons
to look more realistic.
Just install this pet package and switch desktop icons to Faenza
(using Control Panel)

don570, installed he pet in lucid 519 to see.
When I am in the desktop icon switcher, I have the Faenza selection button, but not the preview icons.

Faenza theme
Reply to Béèm:
If everything is working correctly , you just have to select Faenza theme
with the desktop icon switcher (under Control Panel) and the desktop icons automatically change. Very simple.
...but if you want , you can open up the pet package with command 'pet2tgz'
and just do the transferal of icons yourself. However a pet package is
the easy way to do this.
EDIT: I misunderstood
You said Lupu and it uses Smooth-color theme as its default
I have some icons for it
http://www.datafilehost.com/download-672cbebd.html
Install by choosing smooth-icons theme with desktop
icon switcher.

@don570,
Apparently you didn't get the message.
I installed the pet.
The icons are switched when I push the Faenza selection button, but the preview icons aren't there.
Maybe this is as designed.

It's easy to make a theme yourself. I just did a quick modification .
Maybe I should make a proper theme.
Do
to get my icons or better still just find the Faenza folder (using pfind)
in Fluppy and drag it to any puppy distribution you want. It should work.

The icons are in the .../themes/Faenza directory, that's not the issue.
But as I showed, in the icon switcher panel there is no preview.
But don't bother.

Faenza theme
Now I remember
I tried to find the Faenza theme on the internet
but I couldn't download it --- endless popup ads.
That's why I just made the modification.
Maybe Jemimah knows how to make a proper theme package.

OK, now I understand why your package only contains 9 icons, while in the other themes there are much more.
