Thanks Semme !
What i did ....
Booted in pfix=ram ... it was possible to install the pet .
Then i did a remastering .......replaced my old init.gz-puppy_tahr_6.0.5.sfs -vimlinux
and the zdrv_tahr_6.0.5.sfs with the new remastered one .

now everything seems fine .

A personal foible of mine is to use the (old) Windoze key for some of my favourite desktop shortcuts - Win+f being my habitual go-to for activating pFind in Puppy. I usually use xbindkeys to get the combo going in any Pupplet that hasn't got the Win key activated as standard. I know the terminal command in Tahrpup is 'pfind', and I've been trying all sorts of commands in JWM Hotkeys to get it going:

"windows key"+f
Win+f
(keycode)115
Super_L (w/o +f)
etc etc etc.

No matter what I try, I get no response and in terminal the jwm -p command returns

Adding this to /root/.jwm/jwmrc-personal then restarting jwm works for me in Slacko 6.3 (have not tried Tahr 6.0.5 though)

Aha! Thanks Semme - your solution gives Alt+Win=pfind, and it gave me the clue to use "(key)f (mask)Mod4" to get Win+f working! I had missed completely the "exec:" command, being so used to xbindkeys I think. Thanks too moeppyfan, I've modified my jwm config as you suggested, for good measure. 3 cats skinned, right here

My Linphone package for TahrPup was compiled in TahrPup-6.0 with careful attention paid to making sure the library configuration was correct. No native libs are overwritten when the package is installed. It also has pretty much all of the available extra codecs and other features added. There may be a small bug with the Account Sign-Up Wizard, but this is surplus to requirements anyway. All of the Wizard's functions can also be done via the Preferences window.

There is a later release out now but they have made some changes and I have not had chance to build and test that yet. I have been using this version every day for some months now and have found it to be stable and reliable. It is also still nice and small for a program which offers video calling and IM plus an excellent way of interfacing your computer with the phone network.

I tried using Tahrpup, everything works great but the only problem is with it always being awake, it doesn't sleep by the laptop's lid closed, any clue how to resolve this issue?

I tested both 6.0.2 and 6.0.5 versions, also once upgraded 6.0.2 toward 6.0.5 gradually by the fixing patches and updates suggested by itself, but all the attempts failed so far

Hi James - if you don't mind me asking...

I see a Mate desktop environment - is it running smoothly and relatively bug-free? Complete? How did you go about it's install? Mate-meta from PPM? Quickpet package?

I ask because Mate is one of my favorite DE's, and I'd love to build/remaster a Tahrpup around it... IF it seems reasonable enough to attempt, and could likely produce a stable and useable full-fledged Mate pup.

Over the years, @James C has tested many many distros on behalf of this community showing what he's found and what works. Thanks @James C as this provides an insight, before testing, of what to expect when using a similar PC platform.

One item that @James C provides us, consistently in his testings, is this picture: (see below attached photo)

I see benefit in this utility he posts as it provides a simple visual of system performance. I often have wondered, if others see this utility, he shows, the same way?

So I have a 2 part question, referencing what he shows:

• Part 1
  @James C, when you are testing, do you use a PET prepared so that you dont have to manually setup in each and every distro you test?
  
  Part 2
  Could development offer an installable that could generate this utility to the desktop? (It could be useful in much the same way we use themes for the desktop.)
  
  Benefit: Obvious simple visual of performance to spot anomalies and because it is a selectable "standard" utility, it does NOT impact current distro performance when it is neither present or installed but not running.

In the ppm you have GKrellM system monitor that provides something like yoy want, i think.
There is an enter in the menu and you can use it only when you want or put a script in the starup folder to use it always.
There are a lot of plugins to complete GKrellM if you have this need.

Tested Glamor on Tahrpup after seeing modules (it works ootb) and is a bit slower than UXA acceleration on my Atom N270 (need to add one module and change AccelMethod in xorg.conf). Maybe later Intel graphics can take more advantage.

The only bad is my Puppy only takes 32-36 MB for graphics, when windows can take until 256MB (128 on my current machine, Olidata OX) and that ability lies on Intel driver. I never found how to fix it on Puppy.

In the other hand, this f*****g Sentelic touchpad. None of the Ubuntu related topics works for this distro and i don't see how to disable "tap to click" feature (Setup refuse to work because isn't a Synaptics touchpad).

Driver is present in kernel (grep command shows it's working), but module isn't (seems to be no longer needed), so many solutions available in the web are useless.
