Tried all that many times but if the firewall is disabled it shouldn't really make any difference. But who knows.

I did a full install of Slacko 6.3.0 on this Dell Precision 390. Very nice appearance, with the candy blue scroll bars, light blue wallpaper. Reminds me of long-lasting versions in the 2.1x range. Is there any way to disable the mouse-over widget at the top? Didn't the Puppy community get kinda divided in the past when a widget was introduced? Puppy 4.2?

Have you searched for errors in /var/log/cups/error_log?

I agree about the appearance. I loved the look (the beach/water) and widgets of Puppy 4.20 also. :)

I think you can remove the top tray by clicking on the second last icon (I think), then clicking on "Tray 2" (the one with the up arrow) and hitting "Clear" or "Remove" or "Sweep" on the right. I am just going by memory. Maybe there is another way too.

..remove the top tray..
- is this an answer to my request to Slacko64?
If it is - thanks a bunch, as no-one else sent any suggestions. I've wiped it so will re-d/l and check next week.

I guess I spoke too soon. I did a full install Slacko 630 32-bit on this Dell Precision 390, Core2 duo, 4 GB ram, 2TB hdd. It got sluggish after a day of continuous operation, so I rebooted, and was very surprised to get a Save dialog when I tried to reboot. I did save, but deleted the savefile after I rebooted to desktop, because, for one thing, it did not save any work I had done during that first day. So I rebooted again, and it was starting over from scratch. I did all the adjustments, nouveau vid driver, bookmarks, everything. Then I rebooted once again, rejecting the save operation, and when I got back to desktop, nothing was saved. I am pretty sure I got rid of all frugal install savefiles before encountering this problem. A system-wide search for "savefile" produces No result. Any idea what is happening? Why is a full install not auto-saving on reboot?

NB: I absolutely want nothing to do with frugal installs.

EDIT: The savefile I deleted was in sda1. I just found a .sfs file in sda2. How is a decision like that made, to split it up between 2 partitions like that? After I deleted the .sfs file, full install Slacko saved properly.

Can also do this:
menu->Desktop->Desktop Settings->Tray->Tray 2 button
Select button on right that looks like a broom. (Clear list/delete tray)
Select yes in delete tray message.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

Doesn't work for Slacko64 (where I raised the tray issue).

You might need the v.10 for Slacko 32bit. Definitely need if you're an overseas subscriber to BBC, but I think there are one or more providers in the US who need the earlier version, which, incidentally, is much more insecure. Security doesn't matter so much if you run the liveCD in a machine without any storage, provided you're not running with a static DNS.

Nope.. The latest FP works just fine.

Hmm, after some finagling, Hallelujah! My Synaptics seems to work.

Even on BBC iPlayer? Where are you located? Are you an overseas BBC subscriber?

Semme, I find only flashplayer10-10.3.183.51 from Puppy-Slacko14.1 repo. From which repo(s) did you get FP-11.2.202.548-i386?
