This code is comment outed on LupQ because a half of the console dialog cannot be seen on some hardware, maybe nvidia graphics.
You may be able to reproduce the problem if you have PC with some of the
NVIDIA graphics.
Note that it does not occur on LupQ.
- Boot up with ram mode(puppy pfix=ram) any pupies other than LupQ.
- Select 'de (German)' keyboard.
- After you reach to the desktop, Menu>Shutdown>Exit to the Command prompt
- Type 'xorgwizard' on the console
- You may be able to see only the top half of the dialog.
Note that 'de (German)' keyboard layout is 'QWERTZ'. You must type 'xorgwi
yard' if your keyboard is 'us'.
It occurs maybe with NVIDIA graphics and the keyboard layout selected to one of them:
azerty, de, be*, br*, dk, es, fi, fr, it, no, se, sv, pt, cz, hu, pl, ro, sk*, croat, slovene.

Attached /usr/local/bin/fix_menus_on_locale trial version.
Test it on the
LupQ-507, with
icewm-1.3.7pre2-lupq.pet available from here.
It converts the encoding when the locale is of ISO-8859-1/2. Do not convert in fixmenus.

@all who like to use lokalized package descriptions
activate the hidden feature of PPM i18n
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 544#448544
see attached screenshot
package descriptions
# from puppy-quirky-official
# puppy-woof-official
# puppy-5-official
# puppy-4-official
# t2-8.0rc-official
# sort --unique
# puppy-lucid-official (appended 2010-09-06)
can be translated and
now used in lucid-official
(package_descr.pot for reference in attached package_descr_i18n.tar.gz)
Note 1: the original descriptions of Barry´s databases are not changed, the translation process is just an addition!
Note 2: It does not make very much sense to translate each and every description, you do not want to disappoint your "native language only" users too much. If the package cannot be used without understanding English, then I think it is better to NOT translate the package description.
Note 3: Have you yet noticed the "description: more info" button appearing with repo:ubuntu ?
feedback appreciated

LupQ has mtpaint-3.34.55 but some translations(.mo) are outdated.
Attached new mtpaint.pot. Call for the translations updated.
EDIT: Do not translate the lines '? ??% zoom'. Keep them blank because the character '%' makes trouble with gettext.

Bonjour shinobar,

I wonder if the translation work already done on version 3.31 (already present in mtpaint-3.31.mo) could be re-used just to save time and energy?
In other words, is the mtpaint-3.31.pot available somewhere?
Cheers, Charlie

Thanks charlie.
There are .po files already for many langages.
But some are old. They can be updated with the new .pot file using tools like poedit.
Attached all .po files available and the new .pot file.

Chinese and Korean now supported

Chinese and Korean now supported on LupQ!
Get
lang_pack_cjk-lupq-0.1.sfs from here.
It is a combination of CJK languages, Chinese, Korean and Japanese.
It is provided as a SFS file because it is so large, maybe takes 110MB of RAM space if it was installed with PET.
Next link is a help how to apply SFS's:
Add SFS File to Bootup(Puppy Linux FAQ)
Japanese users can use this SFS instead of the PET, lang_pack_ja-lupq-*.pet.
To switch from PET to SFS (if your system already installed lang_pack_ja-lupq-*.pet), follow next step:
- Change the locale to en_US.
- Unistall lang_pack_ja-lupq-*.pet.
- Apply lang_pack_cjk-lupq-*.sfs
- Change back the locale to ja_JP.UTF-8.

Thanks L18L. Using default browser is good.
'L=${LANG:0:2}' is not sufficient, for example for pt_PT and pt_BR.

Code: Select all
L=${LANG:0:2}' is not sufficient, for example for pt_PT and pt_BR.
yes, you are right.
delete above line and take this as the last lines of puppyhelp
Code: Select all
#
#[ "$F" != "" ] || F="/usr/share/doc/index.html"
F="$HELPDIR/${LANG:0:5}/index.html" # pt_BR
[ ! -f "$F" ] && F="$HELPDIR/${LANG:0:2}/index.html"
[ ! -f "$F" ] && F="/usr/share/doc/index.html"
exec $BROWSER "file://$F" &
edited
or even better:
Code: Select all
#
#[ "$F" != "" ] || F="/usr/share/doc/index.html"
F="$HELPDIR/${LANG:0:5}/index.html" # pt_BR
[ ! -f "$F" ] && F="$HELPDIR/`echo $LANG | cut -d '_' -f1`/index.html"
[ ! -f "$F" ] && F="/usr/share/doc/index.html"
exec $BROWSER "file://$F" &
will support 3-letters-languages, too.

Where can I find 'the original' package in English to start translate it into Bulgarian? I cannot use russian (although it is simmilar in writing to bulgarian) or any other cyrillic language script. I can use the spanish also but I'd like the original english. Thanks in advance.
