Hello Rainer,
I like your mpdular sfs-concept of puppy a lot.
It remembers me of 'Mecano' and later on 'LEGO' toys-for-boys.
My old HP-MFC broke down and choose a brother MFC 7360N
My working Puppy was Playdayz's Lucid 511/528
and later on Rerwins's supersulu_x (all frugal installs).
My MFC didnot not -and as I read somewhere will not- work under Lucids.
So I had to go for another puppy capable of printing and scanning on my MFC.
rcrsn51's debbi-1.1.pet, the brother-drivers
and his instructions are working perfectly:
brscan4-0.4.2-1.i386.deb
mfc7360nlpr-2.1.0-1.i386.deb
cupswrapperMFC7360N-2.0.4-2.i386.deb
and sometimes libpoppler3_0.8.7-4_i386.deb
PADS104 by RSH
Then I remembered rsh's PADS putting DEBs in one single SFS
I tought it a nice solution for going to test several newer puppies:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=81511
This is PaDS 1.0.4 ---> convert and merge (P)ET (a)nd (D)EB into a single (S)FS
but .........
PADS104 failed.
PADS104 created a sfs-file but the 3
the printer was detected, but no drivers, ergo no printing
the scanner was not at all detected, ergo no scanning
There were broken Links of brsane (2x) and models4 (a map).
(I'll try to upload the screendump)
Load on the fly did not give me a printed test testpage nor an simple xsane-scan.
Q: need these .deb-files an special treatment in order to get a worging sfs from PADS
dir2sfs by 01micko (?; I'm not sure)
On Barry's precise 5.7.1 I installed the brother-MFC as instructed by rcrsn51'
printing and scanning worked flawless.
Manually I copied the installed files into a mfcprintscan-dir
and ran dir2sfs
the mfcprintscan.sfs was created
I started shinobar's precise 5.7.1
and installed (sfs-load-on-the-fly) the fcprintscan.sfs
Visually everything looked as in Barry's precise (in dirs etc)
no broken links as in rsh PADS104
but ....
the printer was physically detected, but no drivers, ergo no printing
the scanner was not at all detected, ergo no scanning
Q1 & Q2:
What am I doing wrong?
or what is going wrong??
groetjes, greetings & Grüße

I would prefer to modify an noobishly quote (Nooby, 2012) here in full agreement
"I have lots of time and lacks of knowledge."
