I did a new manual frugal install to an sdxc card.

From PPM I installed lxterminal and midnight commander, I installed
the devx and compiled FLTK-1.3.2,Dillo-3.0.4 and Htop-1.0.3.
Palemoon web browser is working fine.
I created a .spot-status file in /root and added dillo=false, then ran
loginmanager from the terminal and checked dillo so it now runs as
user spot.
After several reboots everything is good, I think I'll leave it as is
for now.

Very nice!

X might need some work since I managed to get it going only in VirtualBox, while it failed in VMWare and ParallersVM (BTW would be nice to also include the xorg-vmware-dvr)

After that was a smooth (but limited) ride.

It would appear that is build from the master branch of woof-CE. Correct?
Next time you may want to try the testing branch as it has a number of handy additions.

BTW, why is it in "Derivatives". Looks brand new to me :!:

I remastered my Tahr Puppy 5807 install to an iso and then burned that
to a DVD+RW.
The only extras in the iso are lxterminal, midnight
commander,ltris-1.019,htop-1.03,and dillo-3.04 + the devx was loaded.
The new iso is 354mb in size.
It's working great so far and if I break something I won't save the session.

Anyone had success installing on a box with Nvidia graphics?

Back to the Nvidia box......... booting the cd pfix=nox (using the savefile) and choosing the nouveau driver does get to a working correct desktop.

More fun testing later.

5.8.0.8

Cups doesn't recognize my USB 1050 Deskjet All-In-One printer. Tried with 3-11 and 3-14 drivers and latest foo update from rscn51's thread. Even Blacklisted 'usblp' no-go so reinstalled it again, no-go.

PPM lists some packages as 'installed' but in fact they are not, a reinstall of the package corrects the issue.

Overall. a nice puppy so far, fast and so far everything else works fine... still testing though!

immodules.cache

by shinobar
Tahr Puppy 5.8.0.8 and recent Puppies have /etc/gtk-2.0/gtk.immodules and a link to it at /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/gtk.immodules.
But the Gtk2 in Tahr Puppy 5.8.0.8 actually looks /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/immodules.cache instead.

To see what happens:
1. Launch the Osmo('plan' icon on the desktop).
2. Open 'Notes' tab.
3. Add a note with any name.
4. Double click the new note.
5. Right click on the note editor.
6. Select 'Input Methods'.
You can see no options.

Make a link /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/immodules.cache pointing /etc/gtk-2.0/gtk.immodules, you can find options for the 'Input Methods'.

Tried Google Chrome portable on the Tahr Puppy 5.8.0.8.
It shows lacking dependency.

Copied /lib/libudev.so.1 to /lib/libudev.so.0. The Google Chrome works.

my main comp has nvidia graphics and i haven't had a problem with it ... nouveau works straight away .. and the driver compiles and installs ok for me.

i finally got cups to print something .... there is a fix (hopefully) in the post above

Billtoo
i've had xbmc & firefox from the ppm working fine in an earlier tahrpup ... i'll test on this one ... maybe something is missing. the PPM is saying somethings are installed when they are not!

I think the problem is that I created a .spot-status file and chose to
run some applications as user spot.
The Quicksetup first run settings has the option to run internet
applications as spot and if click on that I'm pretty sure it will
throw a wrench into the works.
Slacko64 has the same problem.
Also, once you try running applications that way there is no undoing it.

I deleted my save file and started over, I compiled the latest wine
and have the windows version of xbmc-12.3 running now, I haven't tried
to install kdegames or xbmc from PPM on this new savefile yet but I will after taking a
snapshot.
