aprsdigi

Thanks!

I'm trying aprsdigi instead since it appears to use xastir but adds features ... though I think it may also be missing some some dependencies ... this is why I abandoned Debian long-long ago ... sigh.

Sure would be nice if someone competent to do so - and that's never me - could make this into a PET or SFS rather than code-challenged users like me thrashing-about aimlessly.

The Tracker 3 device from ArgentData - which is the reason I am chasing this - will allow me to send weather dats across the Amateur Radio APRS wireless network, as well as text messages and other data.

Meanwhile I am chasing a hardware glitch ... but that's another matter ...

Thanks!

I have uploaded test version of Dpup Exprimo 5.X.15. Test version...because I modified 5.X.3.4.2.9 woof platform for 2.6.39.4 kernel compliant, unmade the broadcom detection improvements because they are not usable straight with older kernel and so on. I would need feedback if there is non working components. If not...this could be real update as well.

This is not xz compressed...for faster booting for old computers. That is why the build is bigger than my latest kernel version. What has changed since 5.X.14. A lot. There is 7 month work behind this update. Firefox 14.01 might not be best for real old comps...so those people might want to downgrade it. There is no automatic flash player offer, but there is getflash in menu with different choices, newer and older. Getnvidia is in repo which creates nvidia graphics driver for you. Package-puppy-exprimo has many new apps since 5.X.14. I have now as test and expriment compiled mplayer with external ffmpeg, so the size of mplayer is small. How it works, I need feedback. Mplayer version is from svn and represents the latest available. Ffmpeg is 1.11 from git and I have compiled recent x264 and libvpx for it. E17 has been recompiled and the lookout has been changed a bit. PcmanFM uses pup-volume-monitor and it has volumes-drives shown inside it and you can mount and unmount them with PmanFM. It is mainly for e17 usage for another easier way to see drives and mount them.

Hi pemasu

My multi-kernel pet supports the k2.6.39 kernel..........
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=76495
so can be used to add-back the Broadcom wl driver with the latest rerwin logic.

Cheers
Peter

Peebee. I knew that. That is one reason I didnt much care about wl driver support since your multikernel wl driver pet takes care of those broadcom chips which need it. Thank you of remind and post.

Two problems on Save File:

1. The step to choose the Partition is missing - I need to choose sda2 and it defaults to sda1.

2. It is defaulting to NTFS even though I chose ext4.

Edoc. Strange. Saving works for me with ext4 savefile and it shows the partitions right. I did reupload the 5.X.15 because I had missed the mplayer with external ffmpeg. I use the later 5.X.15 version which has been reuploaded.

Also PUI ie Puppy Universal Installer shows the partitions right. Which is sometimes good indicator of working partition detection. So...I am clueless atm.

PUI does show both partitions as options.

But when I tried the usual Reboot from the initial copying of the three files to a folder (exp5x15) and the edit of /boot/grub/menu.lst in order to do a Frugal install the step to choose the Partition does not show up.

The step to choose the file type does show up but is ignored - probably because the forced partition sda1 is NTFS.

Could this have been fixed in your newer 5x15 iso?

Or could this result from a corrupted iso download here?

As I told. It works for me...so I cant pinpoint any fundamental script problem. About corrupted download. I presume that people check the md5sum, before they post bug reports. So...I hope you have compared the md5sum in download link folder and of your downloaded iso. If they are same, then it has not been corrupted during the download.

EDIT. I tested the installation with PUI simplified version and with classic version and both created frugal installation folder without problem and the savefile creation worked when I booted into it and the reboot worked also.

Can someone point me in the direction of a working C++ compiler for this OS?

Not sure what you mean with C++ compiler. I do load devx sfs and I compile my stuff with it. I do use gcc though which is in devx sfs. The devx sfs can be found from the same folder as the main iso.

OK, just to be certain I downloaded the latest 5x15 again (and the devx as well), checked the md5sums, and rebooted (without saving).

Then I set up the timezone and wireless connection, just so that is done and puts some unique content into the Save File.

I rebooted and all of the steps, including partition, were there.

No idea what happened but it's all good now!

Thanks!

Now back to wrestling with the ax25 stack ...

He's learning C++ and wants to be able to compile his test code without leaving Puppy Exprimo.

Hi

Using Exprimo 5.1.5 now - on my daughter's 1yr old Laptop (Emachines E732) and all seems good.
This laptop uses broadcom for wifi and it is working.

Super fast - it screams.
Next test is to put it on my 10yr old Acer Laptop - am sure it will be good.

Thanks Pemasu for another fine Puppy.

Very best regards - Ray

I have 5X15 (Is 5.1.5 the same thing?) on a Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 and it is working fine as well ... pending more tests later.

I will probably update all of the computers here ... after a few days of others testing as well ...

On the previous page, pemasu gave you the link to the devx package. It contains the compiler. Did you try it?

Since it's an SFS, you will need to use the SFS loader tool in your Setup or System menu.
