weewx - Linux Weather Appl

Would it be a hard thing to port this weather app to Exprimo?

http://www.weewx.com/

I'd like to run it with this addon so that I may tie my Davis weather station to my Linux laptop and an Amateur Radio APRS device.
https://github.com/bradmc/weewx_aprs_a ... /bin/weewx

Thanks!

Having used Exprimo 5.X.15 for a number of months, I am wondering whether other uses share my observations …

(1) you2Pup is a handy utility. But it stopped working about 2 months ago. When I try it with youtube, I now get "unknown youtube format". Is this the same for everyone?

(2) On earlier pups and Firefox versions, I found it essential to use Ad Blocker to kill the flash advert at the top of the murga forums because the flash player used so much resources that it would practically cripple my 560MHz PIII when browsing. But now, with 5.X.15 and FF 16 I find that Ad Blocker uses far more resources than does the flash player. By disabling Ad Blocker and allowing that advert to play (flash player and all) my browsing is much better with less hesitation when scrolling than if I have Ad Blocker activated. What a turnaround! :D

Attached pet should fix you2pup. Movgrab works also in commandline, and the you2pup I have uses movgrab. It was youtube api change which needed movgrab update.

I have included Flashblock plugin to the Firefox. You just need to enable that extension. Have you tested it ?

That makes it work. Much obliged!

I have struggled with a weird Linux-boot problem where my Samsung NB30 netbook display is dim if I start via battery but full brightness if via AC.

It is a problem they have solved in Ubuntu:
http://www.voria.org/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 6046#p6046

Could someone have a looksee at this linked-thread and see if their Ubuntu solution could be ported to a Puppy Linux Exprimo PET or something, please?

It sure would make my netbook a more versatile tool.

Thanks! David

Just took advantage of sales & acquired a 22" Viewsonic VA2212M-LED monitor.
http://www.viewsonic.com/us/va2212m-led.html

It is connected to a Samsung NB30 Netbook running Puppy Linux dpup Exprimo 5x15.

Chipset: Intel NM10
Graphics: Intel GMA3150 (integrated)
Maximum NB30 resolution:1024 x 600 @ 60

Windows open in partial screen rather than full screen.

I can manually drag them full screen but cannot figure out how to get them to default to full screen.

Help, please?

Thanks!

Hi edoc,

According to this post:

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Grap ... 264.0.html

The 3150 only supports an external analogue VGA port with resolutions up to 1400x1050. You need to set that resolution within Puppy.

I have experimented with the settings but Seamonkey & other apps refuse to go full screen - which means that I have to manually expand every window.

Somewhere there is a solution ...

Thanks!

I tried all of the resolutions, none address the problem, that windows refuse to open full screen.

Hi edoc,
Sorry to see you not fully enjoy your new purchase. Does this issue appear only on this Puppy build and not on others, or Windows? If it's a generic problem, not specific to Dpup Exprimo, you may want to post it here: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/index.php?f=30
It will have a much more targeted exposure there, it might even get the attention of tempestuous, who seems to be the person to go to with issues like yours.

Full Screen Crashes

I was just in a .doc document in LibreOffice and clicked Full Screen.

It crashed the desktop to the xwin commandline.

When I entered "xwin" the desktop was restored & Seamonkey reopened but LibreOffice refused to reopen - I had to reboot.

WDYT?

Full Screen Display

I just discovered that if I go into Laptop Tools - Change Resolution and turn off LVDS (the laptop display) then the external monitor opens each window full screen.

It would be best if there was a way to have both displays on and this work properly but this will work for now!

Puppy oin Gateway's?

I need to prepare two 10yr old computers to travel to Honduras to be used in a school for orphans.

Gateway 600YG2
Gateway M675PRR

Someone tried Mint and Ubuntu but couldn't get them to play DVD's.

I assured them that Puppy can handle it.

Would Exprimo 5x15 be the version of choice or something else, please?

I need to get this done, preferably tomorrow evening, worse case Monday.

Thanks!

David, Dpup Exprimo is pretty solid, you could do a lot worse.

Hi David !
maybe you already are aware of this thread...http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 5&start=15 which might be of some help for MPlayer use ?
Success and farewell wishes in Honduras !

Yes, I have had excellent experience with Exprimo on several older and newer laptops and netbooks.

I thought I read that there was one version specifically optimized for older computers and thought if Exprimo had trouble with drivers or performance a different Puppy may meet the need.

I did get the older and less-sophisticated of the two laptops to work and the children in Honduras to whom it was delivered are very pleased.

The trouble with the better of the two may be maybe something about the interface of Exprimo and the chipset of the Gateway M675PRR laptop?

http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Gat ... sp75.shtml

The DVD drive handles the Linux CD OK.

After trying various video settings I was able get as far as playing the video but it fails on sound no matter how many settings I have tweaked in every place I could find!

Edoc. It can be that the audio chip is not supported in squeeze based dpup. You should try other Puppy versions.

I did try an older version of Lucid, no joy.

I'll try a search of the audio chip & Puppy and see if the general search engine brings up a match somewhere.

EDIT1: Sigmatel® Soft Audio 6-channel AC97 revision 2.3 codec (STAC9758)

EDIT2: This was apparently addressed back in 2004! A patch to alsa-deiver 1.0.3
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions ... 75-145832/

I tried looking in Puppy Package Manager and there are a ton of alsa-related files but I have no idea which, if any, would resolve the problem.
