No dual cores here ... older computers all around.

Now that the basics are working I need to get back to the list of challenges in my sig -- perhaps some are solved in 4.2 (those were all left from 4.12).

Thanks again! doc

Sorry for this, but I am having difficulty getting the WLI-CB-G54 working, and cannot follow what is being said on a lot of these threads, with no definitive answers to be found.

You speak of an updated wizard, but give no file name or link ?

I have tried all sorts of things out including tips for resetting the PCMCIA sockets from this link http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 1707#31707

No matter what I do the card refuses to be recognised, and according to pccardctl status, there is no card in either slot.

The machine is an old Toshiba Satellite 2140CDS.

It appears that 4.2.1 rolled-back the version of CUPS to regain stability. Seems to work OK.

However, 4.2.1 incomprehensibly rolled-back the Network Wizard to a much less functional version ... is there a simple way to restore the 4.2.0 Network Wizard to 4.2.1?

The rolled-back version fails to detect a USB nic that had worked fine for several Puppy releases - the version with 4.2.0 was picking up everything and was working fine here.

I am sorry for your loss

It's been a few years since I was in criminal justice but I believe that negligent vehicular homicide may be a felony and misdemeanor careless driving is a misdemeanor.

Variables include:

More difficult to prove a felony

Misdemeanor has fewer negative consequences for the one convicted

Some reason that the law enforcement people want to cut the person some slack

The other driver may have a plausible explanation for the way he was driving

Both parties had some responsibility for the accident so they decide to balance things

Kernels. Retro uses an older kernel version, which impacts which hardware is supported. Also, sometimes the retro kernel is compiled with more conservative options compared to the standard one. I don't remember if that is the case for the 4.x series thus far.

Also, kernel modules (aka drivers) compiled for Standard will not work in Retro, and vice versa.
