Thanks Barry, have made the changes, I will see how it goes. JimBarryK wrote:The intel xorg driver is badly broken on my laptop, tearing effects, among many others.kj4bnh wrote:Intel.BarryK wrote: What Xorg driver are you using?
(if you run 'report-video' in a terminal, it should tell you? As will 'quicksetup')

I always change to the 'modesetting' driver. Just exit from X, run 'xorgwizard'.
There is a new intel driver just released, changelog shows heaps of bug-fixes. I will be testing that soon.

Please remove pmusic, I only use xine, even for mp3s. And while you are at it, remove all programs in /usr/local/ except the mandatory ones. Let the option for them to be installed from ppm.BarryK wrote:My question is, why do we even have Pmusic in April?
Very good. I would like to find out how low the RAM can be for the live-CD.Keef wrote:Running live from CD on a HP Compaq nc6120 with 1.25 gig RAM and it is running very nicely. Booting was very slow, but very nippy now. According to htop (on my HDD) it is using 523mb of RAM with SeaMonkey running.
Going to try the frugal install now.
A little customizing, just need to remember to save....James C wrote:I finally got around to doing a frugal install of April64 7.0.2 using the live cd. The installer script worked perfectly....I installed to sdb 3.....probably the easiest Puppy install I've experienced. No problems so far.
Yes, it will boot (slowly) into 1Gb and is reasonably speedy thereafter; swap partition available on HD, independent video card(ie no shared mem.: 128MbDDR Radeon).I would like to find out how low the RAM can be for the live-CD.
There are so many PCs out there with 1MB RAM. It would be nice if the live-CD boots on those.
Actually, you could put the 'savesession' script into /usr/bin/wmpoweroff and wmreboot, so it will save at every shutdown.James C wrote:A little customizing, just need to remember to save....James C wrote:I finally got around to doing a frugal install of April64 7.0.2 using the live cd. Barry, Pmusic is more than just a media player. I use it to batch-edit the tags of audiobook mp3 files so I can see the author and title of the book I'm listening to (sometimes people ask what I'm listening to and I forget.) I haven't found another way to do that, though I didn't seriously look for one after I figured out how easy it is to do with Pmusic. Please, at least keep the latest version of Pmusic in Puppy's Package Manager.BarryK wrote:Guys, a question.
There was an earlier report of Pmusic hanging.
My question is, why do we even have Pmusic in April?
I am also seeing the errors.zygo wrote:Barry,
I have used several Puppies including the latest precise from yourself and the latest slacko. Now I'm running april 7.0.2 live-CD (with 2GB RAM) and these errors are new.
A.
netstat -c -p -a -e -w -u -t -n
netstat: invalid option -- c
netstat -p -a -e -w -u -t -n
netstat: /proc/net/tcp6: No such file or directory
netstat: /proc/net/udp6: No such file or directory
netstat: /proc/net/raw6: No such file or directory
there is IPv4 output (which I have removed) and as I expected no IPv6 output.
Thanks
Not sure what netstat -c is for, it's not in any of my netstat lists as a switch, typo maybe?gcav wrote:I am also seeing the errors.zygo wrote:Barry,

Does anyone know if netstat changed? or the kernel changed?
