it was easier just to delete all the post. basically I select message over 1 day old delete, that got rid of 300+ then I just had about 50 from to day to delete.
man that is crap.

ttuuxxx... You should said it before :) .

The file that saves MIME associations is: /root/.local/share/applications/defaults.list.

I booted with pfix=ram then created the "applications" sub-directoy and finally copied my defaults.lsit file to it. After that I could launch all files that had a MIME associated...

ttuuxxx please go on with Thunar, It has potiental...

You are welcome ttuuxxx :)

Just for the record,

as this file is composed by the /usr/share/applications *.desktop definitions, if some application associated to a file does not have a .desktop file definition, Thunar creates a "usercreated.desktop" file in /root/.local/share/applications directory, those new files should be saved too along with defaults.list file.

The right click actions are saved in /root/config/Thunar/uca.xml, I attach a test file that contains the right click action to Open Terminal within Folders...

UPDATED: There is an updated uca.xml file with more custom actions here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... start=3017

hi clarf I fixed the missing home icon , just make a system link from
/usr/local/lib/X11/pixmaps/home48.png
to
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/36x36/filesystems/gnome-fs-home.png
ttuuxxx

the other icons I would like to set before moving on is the pet and cd icons.

/usr/share/pixmaps/application-pet.png
you'll find it in /etc/xdg/rox.sourceforge.net/MIME-icons/application_pet.png

ok I'm happy with V5, plus. Time to move on to bigger and better things, during the past 2.5days I've managed to download and compile 42 packages, lol to try to get this working with stability and usability at the top of the list. Now I have to sort the sources, packages, compiled directory's etc. man my download folder is messy. lol
Then a simple reboot and start fresh, who's' Idea was it to change the extra window manager???, that I never use anyways and waste like 2.5 days, oh ya I remember CLARFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!! lol
man that cracks me up.

ttuuxxx,

just tried the V5 for Thunar, Amazing work man. After I opened it, I though for a second I was using a fast Two Panel Rox.

It cracks me too

Com'on ttuuxxx now you have a great alternative for Rox. what if Rox doesn´t work for Puppy OLPC project, Thunar runs fast and it´s very small. You and all 214X users have a nice FM alternative and learned a little in the process.

File managers

I tried out all your latest file managers, while most of them are a wee bit on the Crappy side, IMHO, the last offering, Thunar-1.0.0-i386-5.pet stands out as almost as good as the xfe_1.04-2.1_i386.pet from page 87.

Using one of the other file managers, actually don't remember which one, I accidentally mis-clicked the cross, while /root was selected     :( :( :( :( :( - Guess what, no questions asked, immediate deletion of /root .

Anyway, that forced me to, finally, migrate my main set-up from V.16 to RC2 :) :), have used them in parallel for a long time, though, but V.16 being my main production set-up.
Took me quite some time, though :).

No important data loss - that's always kept on another disk, which is frequently back-up'ed :).

I did, sort of, like the looks and feel of xplorer, just missed the most important view-option: Details.

Cheers :)/

Don't know if there is any interest in this, but I'll share it anyway :).

Have continued my half-autistic delving into reiserfs as pup_save-file system.
Resizing of pup_save-file is now implemented also for reiserfs.

Just in case there are any other pup_save-file-system-wanderers out there, I attach my latest initrd.gz :) (rename as required, should you want to try it out ).

<EDIT> In certain situations, when booting from CD, initrd_P_100122_2.gz can fail, due to too little slack space. The attached initrd_P_100123.gz addresses this problem. :) </EDIT>

Cheers :)/

I think the File Manager was File-Browser, the delete button a big X is right next to the Options button. I had the same problem, fortunately the selected file was a empty .txt.

Are you talking about Thunar???. Thunar has a Detail view option, navigate to View - View Detailed list, then choose columns in View - Configure Columns...

No, Thunar is almost OK, xplorer-0.9.2-i386.pet is missing the Detailed view :).

The reason, why I say that Thunar is only almost as good as xfe is that selecting multiple files (and, especially, un-selecting them) in Thunar is a bit dodgy :).

Thanks for the tip ttuuxxx,

In the same way I could fix the missed icons for trash and Desktop.

ahhh, I got it...

well there is nothing perfect in this world, I miss the .gz, .pet, .bz2 files inside view/navigation in xplorer :) . Anyway Thunar is much better than xplorer...

Hi guys the next release will have a version of thunar that I have looking pretty good now, just one thing, that desktop quick launch folder in the left column, its just an empty folder, I guess it could be used as junk folder, lol well Thunar is made for xfce and well 2.14x has rox and rox doesn't really have a "desktop folder for desktop icons" etc, I could remove it but I like the icon, lol
