:D Hello,
Well, I know I said I was just "lurking", but it looked fun so...
I thought I`d throw in a few more... :D
The first is an expanded Cpu/Ram monitor, with Swap added, and more detailed information, (size, percent, ect..)
Image

The second is more expanded, I call it "SysMon"
It displays: Pupsave free space / Cpu / Ram / Swap / Processes
In 1 monitor...
Image
@ The Processes monitor only updates every 5 sec, seemed too "Look at me" set at 1..
Also only shows top 5 to conserve space...

They both have independent color config`s IE..Themes Do Not overwrite them...
A single color config handles them all, and is easily configurable...

Please give them the "once over" if you have time...
@ I`m a little confused about location, ie, integrating them amongst other widgets....
If all is well I`ll Pet `em up....

PLEASE RE-INSTALL THE ADDITIONAL WIDGETS AFTER YOU UPDATE TO NEWER PWIDGETS VERSION! SOME WIDGETS NEED THAT
WARNING: PWIDGETS MAY NOT WORK CORRECTLY ON OTHER PUPPIES OTHER THAN 4.2 (at least some of the features/widgets is proven not working)

I'm stopping this thread, and will not take care of it anymore...so mod..if you want to delete..please do

Thanks
Umm... Why?

TailVarLogMessages

My /root/Startup directory includes a script to sync the system date (via rdate) and to display /var/log/messages.

Now, with Pwidgets in Puppy 4.2, I can now have last 10 lines of /var/log/messages displayed in the sidebar. I keep an eye on the log because I often attach a lot of USB devices like flash card readers...and sometimes the flash cards tend to have faults that only show up in /var/log/messages.

Not sure that everyone will find this plugin useful, but here goes!

The config file simply has the following last 2 lines:

Code: Select all

TEXT
${color0}${exec tail /var/log/messages}

Nice work. Now if you don't mind me saying, we could give this the Pwidgets treatment and make it a scrolling text widget, it would fit better in our theming and size.

I'm sure many would find this useful. We cannot think of all the widgets needed so your input is fantastic! Thanks.

Cheers

Hi,

many thanks to Zigbert and others for these usefull and nice Widgets!

I was dreaming to get the analog clock always "transparently" visible while using applications - so time is always visible (one often spent much more time sitting in front of the screen than it appears - so a "transparent" time reminder could be useful too...isn't).
(as a newbie I cannot program that ...as yet - sorry)

I apologize for my weak english.

Have fun!
Cheers

Hi Charlie

In /root/.xonclockrc (hidden file) at line 80-81 you see

Code: Select all

#keep clockon top
top = false   #(true|false)
Change line 81 to "top = true". Restart Pwidgets.

That should do it.

Cheers

Hi Tasmod, thanks!
In /root/.xonclockrc (hidden file) at line 80-81 you see
Code:
#keep clockon top
top = false #(true|false)
Change line 81 to "top = true". Restart Pwidgets.
I did it...I got no transparency view of the clock.
I believe it forces the analog clock to stay in top of the widgets stacking on the screen.
I had a look on other settings in xonclockrc and didi not find any transparency relevant item.

Cheers

For other use such as just checking local signal strength this version is much better.

Changes:
Frequency changed to Channel, more meaningful.
Some processes timing made longer, less Cpu load. It is now 2 thirds of first wireless.
Added Public IP address
Hello; I've downloaded this and installed it but how do I get to select it? The Wiki talk about the available widgets appearing in the ~/.pwidgets/configs directory but this doesn't exist in my file-system.

I'm using a Puppy 4.3 so is that my basic msitake?

Pwidgets wiki needs to be updated. I maintain it so will find time over Christmas season to do so.

Many widgets in this thread are only good for pwidgets less than version 2.2.x The individuals who created them need to update them, me included. Version 2.2.x saw a major reshuffle of the data flow to allow for using on a multiuser system, but still works running as root.

Thanks.

You don't happen to know the answer to my actual question do you? I still haven't found out (nor have I worked out) how to actually get to use a newly downloaded widget.

I rather expected the .pet to have done it for us and stored it in the proper place to make it appear in the 'Available widgets' panel. Is that not possible?

If that's not how it works, then clear instructions will be needed in your wiki update! And it will also be helpful (if possible) to list each widget against the correct version if their operation is version specific.

Sorry about all that. I know it's really easy for people like me to expect volunteers like you to "just do" something that is in fact a load of work, so please accept our thanks for what you do.
