It's odd, because most any other forum attachment saves just fine, but it seems to work if under settings you check "Ask where to save each download"

More than odd!
In my localized Version bytes are "translated" to "Beits".

Hi again,

Thanks for the prompt responses.

@ session - your fix also works for me - I'm impressed as I would never have thought of trying your solution.

My regards

Hi,

I have a desktop computer.

Here are a few of my favourite Qt-Web settings:

I placed the Navigation Bar (as per screen shot)

I have added shortcuts so using the Righthand Ctrl key
I can reach comfortably to (see Note below):

Make Text Larger Ctrl+Up
Make Text Smaller Ctrl+Down
Zoom Text Only Ctrl+Right
Find Ctrl+Left
Disable Plugins Ctrl+End

and already built in:
, Back
. Forward

Note: Some additional key settings fail and some created
adverse effects which I could not undo - so, just in case,
I suggest backing up the Qt-Web folder before trying any
additional shortcuts of your own. With my Desktop the
above additions work for me.

Funny , had to laugh :lol:

Could not find Beitz on Google - execpt as different write style for Veitz(tanz) [ Huntingtonsche chorea ] .

Since there is some movement to reduce the anglzisms from the german language ( Angeln being a landscape in germany though ) , that might be the a new word creation without double meaning ( except computers being kind of witchcraft to some ) .
:lol:

Is anyone able to post a set of steps that can be followed to guarantee getting flash/youtube to work with QT web browser? I tried a couple of times a few months ago without any real success.

Flash player problems

Hi

Just for info.

For me You Tube videos work fine with QtWeb - no need to do anything (I have it installed in Precise and have flash player installed as well). However, I can't get BBC iplayer to show videos. In an effort to explore the problem, I downloaded the Windows exe version and installed it on XP. It too did not play BBC iplayer video at first, complaining that I did not have flashplayer installed which I did. I went to install it but all it needed was an upgrade and then it played the videos. I suspect that the flashplayer version used with QtWeb may need an upgrade? Anyhow, I am looking forward to Barry's new version of Precise to see if how it performs. Certainly, QtWeb is very fast to start and is responsive, but there appears to be a few issues with it.

And the Spanish locale has terrible spelling and translation mistakes: Página de Vienvenido instead of Página de Bienvenida (oh my goodness! :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: Did this guy finish high school? Or maybe they're foreign speakers), la ventana corriente (=the average window) instead of la ventana actual (=the current window).

Something I like from QtWeb is that you can quickly save web pages as PDF by clicking File > Save as PDF, no need for extensions or web services.

the qtweb-source is hosted on github

https://github.com/magist3r/QtWeb

the locales are under

https://github.com/magist3r/QtWeb/tree/ ... rc/data/tr

As QtWeb is an interest "little" browser it might be a good idea to help with translations.

If Barry includes QtWeb in his next release, we would all benefit from better translations.

On QtWeb, when I clicked on the Cancel button in the download window, QtWeb closed without any warning at all.
Also, if one checks their /tmp/xerrs.log file, there seems to be a problem with GTK windows that basically continues to repeat.

An example is:

(QtWeb:21498): Gdk-CRITICAL **: IA__gdk_window_get_origin: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed

(QtWeb:21498): Gdk-WARNING **: gdkdrawable-x11.c:952 drawable is not a pixmap or window
Object::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter
Object::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter
Object::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter
Object::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter
Object::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter
Object::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter

I think it is not ready for prime time yet.

Running QtWeb 3.8.4 in Wary 5.1.1.

I get a series of SSL-certificate errors while navigating Amazon.com.
Then, after typing in the first few letters of my e-mail address to log in, QtWeb crashes and disappears.

Does anybody know why? Thanks.

OK, thanks for the help. :)
pemasu's fix eliminated the SSL-error problem.

Because I'm in Wary, I had to manually download that package from Ubuntu's repo.
(It's only available via Puppy Package Manager in Ubuntu-based Puppies.)

However, this problem still persists:
while navigating Amazon.com....after typing in the first few letters of my e-mail address to log in, QtWeb crashes and disappears.
So it might be unrelated to the SSL issue...

Perhaps it seems too easy: have you tried to run qtweb in console, to login at that website, and to see if it's reported some error in console?

Thanks...looks like it's a Wary 5.1.1 problem. :?

Tested QtWeb 3.8.4 with all my Pups; all the CA / SSL-certificate extras were installed.
Results:
Wary 5.2.2: OK, no crashes.
Wary 5.1.4.1: OK, but certificate errors with EBay.
Wary 5.1.1: Crashes with Amazon, YouTube; EBay is OK.
Puppy Linux 4.3.1: OK, but certificate errors with EBay.
Puppy Linux 4.1.2: Crashes with YouTube; Amazon and EBay are OK.
Puppy Linux 3.0.1*: OK, but certificate errors with EBay.
Classic Pup 2.14x*: OK, no crashes.
* Remastered--changed built-in browser to SeaMonkey 1.1.19 official binary.
(Edit: 1/13/2014, clarified previous line.)

That's for Ubuntu-based Pups with the .deb package included in Puppy Package Manager.
Since I have Wary, I had to get it from the Ubuntu repo.

I am trying qtweb , and I have some questions :
- why is their forum down (http://qtweb.net/smf/) ?
- where can we report bugs ? for instance QTweb 3.8.5 crashes on start
- why are those certificate errors ? where does that /etc/ca-certificates.conf come from ? why is update-ca-certificates script not in puppy ? and we dont have the /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt and /etc/ssl/certs is empty...
- I cannot get flash to work if removing seamonkey ? anyone know where to set flash ? variables ? files ?
- is it possible to compile qtweb ?
