Yes I have used that before.

I want to remove any libs that I will not need and have them install as the programs that need them get installed.

Yes, there is a command for the terminal. The command is: ldd and it needs a filename (application or library) as parameter (example: ldd /usr/bin/abiword).

I have made a .pet (Dependencies Checker) that is already in LazY Puppy and can be used in other puppies. It must be somewhere in the Utilities section. Just do a right-click on a library or application. It shows the results in a text editor or in the terminal (option to choose) - the terminal stays open and usable.

What specific help do you need on making sfs files?

Thanks a lot for the links you've posted. This will save a lot of time to me (searching files on the web isn't as easy to do for me as it might be for an english user). I do surely need more than doubled time to read and understand and not to download the wrong files. This is so hard... ...i mostly give up.

I have taken a look at the gstreamer plugins yesterday and there is something, that confuses me. How do i take "bad" and "ugly" in the file names? Does this mean bad, ugly - do not download?

After having a look at the downloaded gstreamer plugins to me it looks like adding all these needed/requested files will not make a that lightweight links-browser-gst.sfs as it looks like having a look only on the links browser - this will increase its size surely up to 10mb or even more... (and it might increase the size of the iso as well, if some files needed to be installed).

No Gstreamer-plugin bad,good and ugly are all nice.

In english there is a movie called the good, the bad and the ugly and that's probably why they are called that.

I know that the ugly plugin is non-free codecs and that's why it's called that.
...And the bad one, I don't know what's bad about it since it handles mpeg streaming.

As for the size, it depends on the functionality. The more plugins you add, the more content gstreamer will be able to handle. So, it really depends on how much functionality you'd want out of gstreamer. It could be worse, totem requires gnome and parole requires xfce libraries.

GST123 doesn't require any of that.

This should save you a whole lot of work.

Oh and if you already have gst123.pet and you remove the dev stuff and just have plugins that will keep the iso size pretty small. Because the plugins aren't that big.

Libgstreamer and ffmpeg are the only libraries really needed. And they aren't that big either.

I forgot to include this plugin, it's the gstreamer plugin for alsa.

I'm currently testing the gst123.pet myself so I can gauge how it works.

I have not tested on LazY, but the gstreamer-0.10.35-lucid.sfs, compiled on Lupu-528, worked on Lucid Puppy 528.

Here is the Links download folder of my mediafire web space. There you'll find different versions of links as .pet and .sfs. One version only contains gst123 the other version contains gst123, gstreamer-alsa and -ffmpeg.

The small version is about 4mb the bigger one is about 8mb.

The "LP_2" files are made especially for LazY Puppy.

I do not know, how to use gst123 so please let me know, what works and what doesn't.

LazY Puppy 2.0.2, Final LazY Puppy finally has got a Logo.



Now, that the logo is finished it will not take too much time to upload the LazY Puppy 2.0.2.

Today, in between of 23:00 and 00:00, GMT+1, i will remove the LazY Puppy 2.0.1 sfs files. Uploading the new sfs files for LazY Puppy 2.0.2 will take the whole day tomorrow (sometimes my connection runs on 6kb/s).

If all files are uploaded i will download the whole system once using the download functions of the Run-Scripts and install (hopefully automatically) to my usb stick.

If everything goes fine i will make the final iso files - again de-iso and en-iso. This time i will add de-win-installer and en-win-installer.

Note: the en-win-installer will run a German gui - do just click on next until install is finished (when LazY Puppy 2.0.2 is available and downloaded)

The help that I need for the making of SFS is I never did one. I know you can do pet2sfs, is dir2sfs a command?

I do not know how to do scripts to have the program load with all of its dependencies. Maybe your pup is what I need, Have downloaded it and will give it a go see.

Just to make sure you did notice that: for testings with LazY Puppy 2.0.1 it's recommended to read (to get an overview) informations from page 20 to the end.

I have posted a link to download LazY Puppy 2.0.2 pre-release at the first post. You can download and use the (still available) sfs files. You might get messages about different md5sums - don't care about that for your testings.

But please note the "pre"...

And all the time that you translated it into English I know how hard it is to do that when English is backwards in structure compared to the rest of the world.

You know, lazypup would probably be amazing for installing games. Though my PC can't handle them.

All of the sfs files have been updated and uploaded today - they all should work now. Please do not use downloaded older sfs files used on LazY Puppy < 2.0.2. Some might work, some might not work. But they might "break" some of the new LazY Puppy functions.

Also some sfs files depends on other sfs files (needed is LP2_DevX.sfs, LP2_JackAudio034.sfs, LP2_JDK16u29.sfs, LP2_JRE16027.sfs, LP2_JRE17u3.sfs and LP2_Python264.sfs). These sfs (dependencies) files are automatically loaded when running programs that needs one of these sfs files. But they are not automatically downloaded - this maybe happens in a future release/update.

Examples: Openshot needs the python; Hydrogen needs the JackAudio, Lazarus needs the devx etc.pp.

There maybe still some messages about different md5sums - don't care about that. The final 2.0.2 ISO will have all the right md5sums of all the right sfs files.

In LazY Puppy 2.0.2 pre-release (de) (for testings) at the first post you can change the language to English right after X is loaded. DE just means it boots into a German desktop.

Hello.

I have now downloaded 80 (of 100) sfs files using the menu entries (they call the Run-Scripts) and everything works fine. I do have to download the rest of the sfs files (20) now and then make some small work (just refine some informations/text).

By now it looks very fine and stable and i can say: LazY Puppy 2.0.2 Final will be available to download on 14./15. Juni 2012.

All testings has been successful and all SFS files are successfully downloaded by the menu entries (run-scripts).

On 05.09.2011 i have joined the forum and by now, the LazY Puppy 2.0.2 Final is finished. One could say: the baby is coming.

How long dogs are "pregnant"?
