3.98 version of the intel graphics card does not automatically enter x window you want to configure, and then have to reboot to enter the X Window

I tend to think the kernel devs fixed your bug because remember you had it with ThinSlacko with 3.9 series kernel.
More on this later in another thread
You're right - and your memory is much better than mine  - great news if my problems were indeed kernel related and have now been fixed.....

Testing Upup Raring 3.9.8.

Hi Pemasu,

A quick test, using a manual frugal install to a fat 32 USB2 stick revealed two issues:

1. Using a Nvidia GeForce 210 there is no Open GL support or hardware acceleration with the Nouveau driver.
I did install XBMC 12.2 but that did not work as it requires these. I suspect a KMS compile issue.

2. Gparted failed to launch but installing a statically linked pet as below fixed that.

The pets I installed were as follows; the last two being unsuccessful attempts to get the rendering working.
  • tempiconsvg-0.19-i486|tray temperature monitor
xbmc-12.2_frodo|This session will start XBMC Media Center
    video-info-glx-1.5.1-noarch|OpenGL Graphics/CPU Report
gparted-0.14.1-patched_exfat_f2fs-i486|GParted partition manager. gtkmm linked statically, so pkgs not required.
    nouveau-firmware_20091212|Firmware for nVidia graphics cards
libkms1_2.4.43|Userspace interface to kernel DRM buffer management

Thanks ETP.
I had wrong gparted pet. Fixed now.
About nouveu kernel driver. There isnt anymore non-KMS choices. All the kernel drm drivers are KMS ie kernel modesetting drivers. There is no kernel compile time options. You include nouveau drm module or not. Nothing else.

I think the problem arises from somewhere else. Maybe the kms support is defective. What does xorg log or dmesg tell you. Is there any errors, warnings which could tell what is the problem.

Hi Pemasu,
installed gCAD3D from dpup-exprimo repo:
it seems like openGL doesn't have «texture» feature (or option...? i don't know what's the right term).
That's also the case on all Precise-3.8.x + Barry's Precises and Rarings.

OpenGL texture is only present on Wheezy-3.5.2.X + Exprimos (except 3.6.2).

I already toyed or digged; as also did cut and try tests to manage to get texture. What only worked is on Barry's Raring-3.6.94: installing z_mesa-8.0.3.pet from Precise repo allowed texture to be present ... but with a awfully slow rendering speed ... glxgears reported 80 frames in 5 seconds (whereas it currently is ca. 300 frames in 5 seconds; and even 1800 frames/5 sec. if doing # export vblank_mode=0 ).
So it might be due to mesa.

To recognize if texture is present:
Starting gCAD3D from 1st install shows a house.
if
- texture present, then the walls are shown with plenty of vegetation + nice squarred windows; X abd Z axis labels are also readable.
- otherwise, the walls are just palin coloured and X and Z axis labes are only white squares.

/root/gCAD3D/cfg/gcad3d.rc has a TEXTURE_ON parameter in it; default is 1; if set to 0 then the X and Z axis labels are readable, allowing to use gCAD3D, without openGL texture present.

Hope this helps
Charlie

Charlie6. Have you tried newer version.
http://www.gcad3d.org/download/gCAD3D-2 ... ux-x86.deb

The newest version seems to start straight. No DOTdesktop file so no menu entry, but it launches in console with: gcad3d

Frisbee wrong password on wifi

Frisbee responds with "wrong password" when i try to connect to wifi. (I know I am typing the right password). However, it works on my wifi at home, but not when connecting to my iphone or another wifi at my parents home.

Frisbee connects with slacko 5.3 on all these networks.

Does anyone know why and how to fix this? Or can you give me hints on what to try?

Dougals network connect works on the iphone but not on my parents wifi. So, maybe it isn't frisbee, but some other program that isn't working for me?

I am using upup raring 3.8.7 on my Acer netbook

Sixten. Do you have right keyboard layout . You need to have the same keyboard layout-language chosen when you created the passwords and when you type them when you try to connect. I have numbers and special characters in my passwords. If I use english keyboard layout, passwords are not accepted.
Certain special characters are not recommended for passwords. For me ÄäÖö are not recommended.

I see power management is OFF by default on wlan0 [Raring 3.9.8].
Also, Frisbee seems to be the only choice for internet connection. I
wonder if the wireless bug fix is in Frisbee or the kernel?

3.9.8 has been up and running here since yesterday. Minor problem
noted when updating Adobe Flash player to 11.2.202.291 The screen
message is very difficult to read (white printing on orange or yellow
background.

Thanks for including version 1.0.8 of mplayer.
