Worked here.
EDIT: As of this writing, there is nothing wrong with PPM or
other here... rather, it is the recurring problem I have with 'cobwebs'...
after several sessions... Im not sure... possibly after some basic programs
get installed, everything begins to work.

My apologies to all for rambling about temporary glitchiness.

Hi to musicians !
here is latest Gtick metronome for now compiled on wheezy, as also the NLS files with lot of locales :)
Might needs sound setting (see Preferences); should works OOTB as sound is configured for OSS (settings saved into /root/.gtickrc).
Enjoy+fun

Hello Pemasu,

In 3.5.2.7 I have encountered a problem with cmake. I am trying to install a package (this has worked in Slacko and Raring) following these instructions:-

Install zrtpcpp (optional), for unbreakable call encryption
$ sudo apt-get install cmake libssl-dev
$ git clone git://git.linphone.org/zrtpcpp.git
$ cd zrtpcpp && cmake -Denable-ccrtp=false . && make
$ sudo make install

Obviously I know we don't need the sudo and cmake and libssl-dev are already installed.

When I tried to run cmake I got an error that libarchive12 was missing so I installed that from PPM with libarchive-dev as well.

Then when I tried to run cmake the second time I got this error:-

Code: Select all

# cmake -Denable-ccrtp=false .
CMake Error: Could not find CMAKE_ROOT !!!
CMake has most likely not been installed correctly.
Modules directory not found in
/usr/bin
CMake Error: Error executing cmake::LoadCache(). Aborting.

#
Any ideas?

Then try again.
Might help....

Hi Pemasu,

Thanks, that worked.

I have uploaded a TEST build of the new Linphone 3.6.1 for Dpup Wheezy here:-

Reports and comments welcome.

I will compile a version of gimp 2.8.6 for wheezy since the
precise version won't work.

I could only make pet packages for gimp

gimp-wheezy-2.8.6.pet
19.5 mb

gimp-wheezy NLS-2.8.6.pet 10.5 mb (optional foreign language pet)

If you wish G'mic plugins...

The user can install the G'MIC plugins in Gimp.
Both files must be installed!!

gimp-gmic-1.5.5.pet
fftw-3.3.2.pet

Hello,
Yesterday I downloaded wheezy Wheezy 3.5.2.6 and made a frugal install on a Lenovo S12 netbook. I like Wheezy a lot and have had only one issue. Fpm2, which works out of the box, gets broken during my tinkering (segmentation fault). When I start from pfix=ram, fpm2 stops working after I set up the wireless. Any suggestions will be appreciated!

By the way, I got a message that wl does not support wpa--but I overrode that and the connection is working fine with wpa2.

Thanks!

It has same kind bug in Upup Raring when I use debian .deb.
I test compiled it from source and several versions seems to allow launching 2 times without giving initial master password. Then it seqfaults. Removing the the config folder allows to start again:

/root/.fpm

My suggestion. Download and install older version from puppy repo and use it:

I see, nothing to do with the wireless or other changes I made...
The fpm2-0.75 pet does not seem to install properly (no binary appears in /usr/bin and no desktop file in /user/share/applicatons). I don't know if that's an issue with the package manager, or something I screwed up.
Acting on your comment about the config folder, I copied the /root/.fpm folder over from Precise and now fpm2 is working fine. I am running version 0.79 from a directory in /mnt/home, having removed the built-in package prior to attempting to install fpm2-0.75..
Thanks for the prompt reply.

Wognath. Of course copying over existing .fpm folder is good solution. I should have thought that. Nice solution. And thanks of the tip for the future.

If I want to port this Samsung NB30 Netbook from Exprimo do I want to come here to dpup Wheezy rather than Precise?

I'm giving this to our teen daughter for school work, and she's also an artist & musician & social butterfly (facebook, instagram, twitter, etc).

She's not interested in learning about the OS so it needs to be simple and stable for her to just use - I have a few days to set things up before I give her this Netbook.

WDYT?

I believe laptop tools are something which helps also netbook usage, easy suspend when shutting the lift etc.

Facebook, Twitter etc you use with browser. Just install the browser of the lady`s choice. About music - artist stuff I cant say anything. Application base in ppm is about as new/old in wheezy and precise not big difference. Good choice is also the newest Upup Raring 3.9.9. I have used my time with it now.

Dpup Wheezy should be now quite stable. I think it is good choice.

No fair confusing me ... :roll:

Seriously, dpup Wheezy is stable but you are working on upup Raring 3.9.9

What's the advantage of upup, access to the Ubuntu repository?

@edoc - Slimboat is a great choice I think for that social integration your daughter is after, I think http://www.slimboat.com/en/. I had no problems with installing it in dpup Wheezy from a recent pet offered on the forum somewheres (I could dig out the link if you want - there are a few dedicated threads to it). The latest suggested upgrade was a tar.gz file, from memory, but I just extracted it into the directory the pet had constructed and it over-wrote and worked fine :) Qtlibs package was a pre-requisite, from memory, but again no probs using Wheezy's Quickpet.

I do have the Slimboat 1.1.28 PET & the SFS in my Downloads folder, is that old?

Is there any reason to not want upup Raring 3.9.9 vs dpup Wheezy?

I have several computers here in need of an update and want to keep them all, other than the 64-bit one, using the same version.
