I'll add it to slickpet.

---------

Sage and Oscartalks

I will also add flash-player to Slickpet's front page. I have been looking for a replacement for the browser-default proggy which isn't needed as we have sc0ttman's default chooser already there. Slickpet correctly resolves if there are 2 versions and offers a popup choice, it will resolve 10 versions! So.. if we find a decent 9 version point me to thataway >>

Excellent!
Can't remember who was advocating a v.9 but it was several weeks ago roundabout when Terry/DaveS were making their observations about Adobe. Perhaps the correspondent in question will stand up and identify themselves and reiterate their contentions as to why it was adequate, etc.
In the meantime, an upgrade to FULL from 5.3.2.8 to 5.3.3 to etc., etc. seems to be successful.

Slickpet updated 1.9.4

This has flash-player on the front page.. Ignore the 10.2 entry if you see it. it was deleted some time ago. You should see a 10.3x and 11.2x, both from TerryPh. I tested 11.2 x, download works, player works.

C610 disappearing sound - workaround

01micko wrote:The fact that sound works on firstboot and no errors afterward means that sound is still available to the system but there needs to be a manual setting set right in alsamixer or retrovol, it will be something like "front" or "rear" with the volume down or unchecked. Right click the retrovol icon and try some of the various settings and visit the retrovol thread for clues. I'm sure you'll get it to work, it's difficult to get 100% working sound with general settings.
Thanks, you've now uncovered a mystery! I did some digging and sound always works on clean boot, and always fails on second boot once a savefile is created. Both Retrovol and alsamixer show the exact same settings in both working and not working states, so at first glance, you were wrong.

That said, I open up alsamixer in the non-working configuration and tab over to PCM. Still no sound. I hit mute (the 00 turns into MM) - still no sound. I hit mute again (the MM turns to 00) and now sound magically works, so I guess you were also right. Muting and un-muting seems to toggle some invisible setting or register.

It's interesting that alsamixer shows levels as 56 (on Master, Master Mono, PCM and CD), which is 75% of 75%. Could you be applying the volume scaling twice?

I think the /etc/init.d/10alsa in slacko 5.3.2.9 is outdated and missing important fix:
EDIT: 10alsa in slacko 5.3.2.9 is not bad and i suppose update is optional.

10alsa in recent woof wrote:#111229 add test file /etc/asound.state exists.

#120222 revert 111229. 120223 shinobar: better fix.
#120226 01micko: added 'Master Front' entries. 120318 bumped it up, 75% to 100%.
But attached i propose better 10alsa.

Any chance of getting Aqualung compiled with LADSPA and Sample Rate Conversion enabled? I can't ever seem to do it myself.

Here is aqualung-0.9. The PET contains liblrdf (for LADSPA), libsamplerate and the tap-plugins package.

As I am not certain to which Puppy, or even to any Puppy, the problems I've experienced pertain, I discussed them in detail in the User's thread.
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 726#624726
This is just to call attention to that discussion.

Thanks,

I am happy to hear it solves your problem.
I guess your problem was a timing issue. The difference of my 10alsa from that of woof is waiting at the top stage (the first my code, plus the second rerwin's):
my 10alsa wrote:case "$1" in
start|restart) #110506
if [ "$1" = "start" ];then #111107
# shinobar: wait sound drivers loaded
(snip)
#111126 Wait for audio sound modules to load...
(snip)
Edit: rerwin's code 111107 works with the pup_event_backend_modprobe_protect fix for lupu, it doesn't affect on the slacko.

I am so happy to be using Puppy Slacko 5.3.3 FINAL. :D

I downloaded the PAE version as it is slightly more secure (apparently).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_Address_Extension

Have been using the other version during the late beta/RC
- with no faults in day to day running . . .

Mick has worked on Lucid (with Larry) and two versions of Slacko.
Slacko is mature, stable and up to date. A solid Puppy expression and base and great release. Woof. Woof.

I hope some with credit will provide Mick with a donation (bottom of page)
He has worked hard for us:
http://01micko.com/slacko.html

Always contribute to Puppy and open source, money, time, skill, questions, propaganda, graphics, support for the ungoogled . . . 8)

I have wasted all my money on an Ipad [don't hate me - I am weak and easily taken in by Eve and her Apples . . .]

However as recompense I am trying to comprehend other ARM fruit for Puppy . . . The Raspberry Pi
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/Puppi

I am very pleased that pemasu is also using woof2 (up to now only Barry and Mick have) and developing upup
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=77697

Incidentally Mick, I downloaded from one of the European servers
- so fast, under 1 minute. This is like the old days of Puppy fast downloads . . . Many thanks. Good will to at all at shed HQ

Lobster says: "I downloaded from one of the European servers "

But I see no link to that sserver you talk about.
Iblio takes some 30 minutes here.

So what are you talking about? :)

Haha now I know. You used this or the Greece one.
http://ftp.nluug.nl/ftp/pub/os/Linux/di ... ppy-5.3.3/

But I see no link to it in your post. Yes took 6 seconds compared
to 30 minutes for Iblio
