That's probably what you will have to do. My package includes the "dump_bios" utility.

... or maybe upgrade to the very latest Xorg with updated intel driver.

Bios attached.

I use latest Xorg, but I cannot use Intel driver because after 2.9 version it works only with KMS, but FreeBSD still has no KMS support. Drivers before 2.9 version don't have support for Sandy. :(

So I have resolution 1024x768 instead of 1366x768 with VESA.. :(

I have a new Acer 4752-6431. I'm getting the following:

slippy$ sudo ./915resolution -l

slippy$

It sees the chipset but not the VBIOS. Can you help? I've uploaded my vbios.dmp file.

Same problem here. I ran the 915 resolution patch .pet but got same result.
Error message below appears every boot. Racy 5.3 on an Acer Aspire 5349-2635 laptop)

Code: Select all

# 915resolution -l

Please run the program 'dump_bios' as root and
email the file 'vbios.dmp' to stomljen@yahoo.com.

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
The display is working, I don't know if the above error message ("Unable to......39") is significant, but is always appears on startup.

Newer xorgs, such as in Racy/Slacko/Dpup/Precise seem not to need 915resolution. I tried in Slacko development and I get nice widescreen on my laptops that have it including a small eee-701SD.

I won't worry about the message, then. Thanks 01 micko.

You mean the patched source? At Barry's source repo

http://bkhome.org/sources/alphabetical/ ... 617.tar.gz

You need the secret password  (not so secret, look around)

what precisely are you / were you using ? I was trying to resurrect my eee-701 and have tried precise 5.5 and slacko 5.5 and in neither of them was I able to get the 800*480 resolution.

Also the download links to the pets are broken / dead - does anybody have working links ?

Regards,
Jon.

thanks for the link Ally - I've actually got a version, I think it's Lucid 4.2 installed that works fine - I just fancied trying to update to see what the latest and greatest were like ... and actually I have success (Precise 5.5) - had to manually enter in the vertical & horizontal 30.61 & 60.61 and it came back with the 800*480 resolution. So all is fine - will see what else I can do with it. All is happy in eee-puppy land (till the next gotcha)

thanks again
