Presently happily browsing with Puppy 412 on the Compaq but the Dell is much more prone to crashing. I'm wondering if the bare bones puplet on Dell would crash less by virtue of having less in its (smaller) ram? I may be getting confused with frugal. Bare Bones = Frugal or is frugal just a way of installing to the hard drive? Can someone end my confusion on this.

I only need Geany and a reasonable browser (SM is ok). [I tried Abiword but it seemed buggy and for first draft, Geany is fine - Bare Bones has it?.] The crashing seems to be caused by just opening too many flash heavy pages, i think. Then again all the above posts seem to indicate there are issues with Bare Bones that would drive this noob nuts, or have all those problems been fixed???

So....., is Bare Bones the best bet for my needs?

Then again, 4.2 is coming along soon. Better to wait for that??? 4.2 More stable? Ttuuxxx thought so on another thread. Hmmm. 4.2 Bare bones coming too?

- Not enough time to experiment with all this stuff especially as i have to be careful not to lose work, bookmarks, addresses, etc. & the printer setup is exceedingly difficult for this noob (doubt i would install on bare bones-Dell since compiling is needed so its "easier" to share the file / print from Compaq). Very grateful for any thoughts on this stuff- hope it wasn't too many q's!

Cheers.

Wolf Pup, did you remove the ability to add sfs files at bootup? I have added two .sfs files but the Bootmanager Configure Bootup says they are not there. Any ideas?

For some reason this comes up with a username/password prompt:

''' A username and password are being requested by http://puppylinux.asia. The site says: "/puppylinux.asia/tpp" '''

Am I missing something obvious or is this a problem?

Where to get puppy-4.1.2-barebones.iso

Try as I might, I am unable to find anywhere to get a hold of puppy-4.1.2-barebones.iso. Does anyone know where I can get a hold of this puplet.

I know I can just get a hold of the full version of 412 and install 'Pet be Gone' and do the work myself. However, I don't see any point in reinventing the wheel. So I would be most grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Regards
