Instead of using "find --set-root" use "root (hdx,y)"Jim1911 wrote: Do you know of any changes that could be made to the menu.lst to assure that the correct partition is loaded?
It looks like you are using sdb5, so you probably want "hd(1,4)"
Gobbi wrote: If the boot sequence completes and then it turn black , put boot parameter : '' nomodeset pfix=vesa '' . Maybe a video driver problem ...
If it turn s black and not even a message error show up :
Tried "nomodeset pfix=vesa" - still received black blank screen
No USB drive attached - Downloaded using puppy and burned iso using pburn 3.60If you have any USB drive attached , it will do so... Pull out the USB drive!
Did you check if the image was burned with no errors ? I mean you did not burned it with windows burner ...if so , you better use Imgburn ( open source) , or do it in Linux !
Bios set to boot from cd firstAlso take a look in BIOS at boot order priority..
.Don't have another 64 bit pcTry it on another PC !
I have made sure that none of the scripts in Fatdog uses $HOSTNAME. They all use $(hostname) instead. In addition, when you use the graphical login manager, restarting X automatically means logout also.gcmartin wrote:Hostname processing would benefit by a logoff. The X desktop restart does some of it, but the logoff addresses all of it that are used by most Linux apps. See results below.
Yes, done.Gobbi wrote:Would it be possible to keep the nice boot splash image of Fatdog wich appears in the downloaded wersion in the the new custom versions that one rematers Question
It's not so important but if it's not so difficult ... The logo is too nice to be left out , in my opinion...
I think nvidia driver requires /etc/X11/xorg.conf, so the getnvidia.pet will create it (the nvidia pet I'm currently uploading definitely use it). Thus, X no longer dynamically detects the driver and always try to load "nvidia". If you delete that /etc/X11/xorg.conf, X should revert to its default behaviour and load intel drivers. Just my guess, howeverBilltoo wrote:... I booted it up on a pc with intel graphics and got a black screen ...
Did you see Fatdog boot logo at all? I presume you does?majorfoo wrote:If it turn s black and not even a message error show up :
I never tried deleting the xorg.conf, I will try that.jamesbond wrote:I think nvidia driver requires /etc/X11/xorg.conf, so the getnvidia.pet will create it (the nvidia pet I'm currently uploading definitely use it). Lovely background you have there, is that the view from your backyard? Do you mind sharing that?
Against my better judgement I have written a replacement for pmount. I don't know whether it will be faster or slower than pmount. In case it is not working well, a simple copy of pmount-old over pmount will revert it back to the old pmount.jamesbond wrote:Noted. I won't be updating pmount now; not enough time and also I prefer not to make big untested changes near final release. No, standard drive icons work fine, however, I prefer to have a clean desktop and use pmount as needed.
[Lobster faints]RC is now closed now and we're cutting the final ISO.
It really depends on the mirror. I think at most a day.nooby wrote:Thanks! How many days will it take for the "mirrors" to get the final iso?
Only minor fixes for multisession and broadcom wireless driver, plus few minor fixes. So the final really is different from the RC. The PMount is different
but that is the only difference then?

By default the system doesn't create or use /etc/X11/xorg.conf at all. It is pfix=vesa that creates the xorg.conf. If you system can start without xorg.conf, all you need is "nomodeset".majorfoo wrote: booted using fatdog nomodeset pfix=vesa, xorgwizard
x failed to start
deleted /etc/X11/xorg.conf
typed xwin and desktop appeared
How can I boot to desktop without having to delete /etc/X11/xorg.conf?
That solved my problemjamesbond wrote:

Works for me to both Windows and Linux shares. Are you connecting through the Share folder on the desktop?gcmartin wrote:has anyone reported the mount problems associated with gaining access to CIFS resources.
My Android tablet can connect to the Fatdog Samba server. Also, the SAMBA included is 4 years old???
