Look what my friend did to her desktop after I gave her a live-cd of Puppy Linux 1.0.5
According to her she downloaded some dotpups then customized it.

Hello all,

I so much liked the wallpaper Gliezl uploaded that I was inspired to learn enough about the GIMP to do some customizing. Anyway, II am so tickled with the result that I wanted to share:

Best Regards,

kcin

it's very nice! I like that Puppy in the Start Button. Is this ICEWM right?

Gliezl,

Yes, it is IceWM - with "XPDE" theme - (except for Start-Button where I replaced the original graphic that was there with a 16x13 puppy-head).

Thanks for the beautiful wallpaper.

Best regards,

kcin

...btw, if anyone wants a copy of that button, ...or the 16x13 transparent .png of the Puppy-head, let me know and I will upload it here (save the time & effort of anyone else having to make one up) - ...it could be used in any WM start button - in any theme ...or anywhere you want a little puppy-head for that matter :) ...just GIMP it in

dotpup

a dotpup of Gliezl's wallpaper and kcin's floating images and button will be great - maybe will be part of the next release of Puppy...

Great work there!

if anyone wants to make a better Icewm Start button (i've said this before) i'll put it in my Icewm package ... the one i made is rather pathetic ... i did spend an hour or 2 trying to improve it, but it seemed to get worse, not better

also, the Puppy website's favicon i made is also kinda pathetic, but same story ... i spent some time trying to improve it, but it just got worse, so i left the original version alone

g2,

I'll take a shot at an icewm startbutton, and a favicon too, when I get home this evening,

uhh, that startmenu button... is that for the default icewm theme? I'm guessing... right? ( ...'cause many themed ones are separate, unique for each theme... unless you want to replace all of them which would be doable, but time-consuming to adapt the changes to fit each individual look)

Also, do you have any particular idea in mind of what kind of graphic you want, and how you want it to look? If not, I'll just do what looks good to me.

Best regards,

kcin

btw, do you happen to know where and under what filename ... I might find the graphic for the JWM startbutton? I was looking for it in order to try out my little puppyhead graphic on it to see how it looked, but couldn't seem to find it.

it under /usr/local/lib/X11/mini-icons/ and the filename is mini-dog.xpm

Hello,

Gliezl, thanks for the info - The Puppy=head works in JWM very well - just had to change it from .png to .xpm.

I'm uploading it here in case anyone wants a copy to use anywhere. Also uploading the button for the xpde icewm theme for whoever wants it..

GuestToo, I had not enough time to work on the favicon tonight - but it is on my list now and will be forthcoming. Also, I wil work on the Icewm start-button you asked about.

Best Regards

kcin

i just thought somebody more artistic than i am might make a better Start button ... my attempt was pretty pathetic

i did make my Start button icon with a transparent background ... it blends better with themes that don't supply their own icons, but it makes the button look more simplistic

i have no control over the Puppy website's favicon ... i made one and Barry put it on the Puppy website, but i always thought it could be improved ... i do like the blue colour though ... it makes it easy to see which of my Firefox tabs are Puppy windows ... if you do make a favicon, you'll have to ask Barry if he would like to use it on his website

i seem to remember that the height of the Icewm taskbar is determined by the height of the Start icon ... or maybe that's Fluxbox, i don't remember
