Thanks shinobar,

But shouldn't that be : /usr/local/bin/defaultbrowser ?
(At least in Lupu?)

Lucid Puppy.

How different are LupQ compared to Luci_238?

I have tested now to do a very basic frugal install of luci_238 and it fails to boot more often than it succeeds to boot.

Fluppy as far as I now know boot each time.

what should I expect about boot behavior from LupQ? Same as Luci_238?

I use Shinobar's grub4Dosconfig and I use the recommended menu.lst code too.

it is on my Acer Aspire One D450 Nettop computer.

No puedo entender lo que hiciste.
El lupq-511.sfs ya esta montada a /initrd/pup_ro2, no?
Cuando haga clic en el archivo lupq-511. iso, se monta.
No es necesario escribir comandos en el terminal.

LiveCD GRUB4DOS

Is there a document or a procedure available for using the QuickSET LiveCD to install/fix/repair an existing Grub on a local HDD?
QuickSET LiveCD would be great tool for repairing BootManagers if there is a procedure(s).
I did see this!

If you select 'Find menu on HDD', you can boot up the PC with existing Grub menu. It can be of Grub4Dos or legacy Grub.
(The recent Grub4DosConfig has another menu for Grub2.) ...
Could your QuickSET LiveCD Grub4DOS AND (as well) your "howto" discussion be expanded to include your LiveCD?

Find lang_pack_cjk-lupq-0.2.sfs from here.
You need to save the session to load sfs. I recommend to install frugal.
Place the sfs at /mnt/home or the sub-directory the puppy files exists.
Use boot manager and select the sfs.
You need to reboot again.

Thanks for your interest, gcmartin.
The Grub4Dos can be a rescue in 3 situations.
  1. Windows has been installed but corrupted MBR and/or PBR.
Grub4Dos directly chain to the bootmgr or ntldr.
  2. Legacy grub has been installed but corrupted MBR and/or the grub itself.
Grub4Dos reads the menu.lst of the legacy grub.
  3. Grub2 has been installed but corrupted MBR.
    Grub4Dos chains to the Grub2.
Any boot media made by recent Grub4DosConfig can do above 3.
But the LupQ-511 live CD can rescue only Windows.
If you want to make a rescue CD, follow the next topic, 'Add a Graphical Boot Menu to your Puppy Live CD':

/usr/bin/gv don't display full A4 postscript or pdf files

Posted: Tue 14 Dec 2010, 13:45

Bonjour shinobar,
...hmmm... let's remember this post of mine about gv:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=452934
...when clicking to download a pdf file, there came a 1st dialog box asking whether to save/save as/cancel/open;
if click on open, then a dialog box "Encrypted Document" asks for password.
if click on save, then the well saved pdf file can be normaly opened whithout any password- nor encryption- warning.
I installed Panzerkopf forum member's "gv.gz" (see link here after)

http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 15d6e39222

but without any change.
On another PC + lupq-509 + Panserkopf's gv.gz + Firefox browser, the same pdf document is opened without any warning...
and the relevant forum member Panzerkopf post:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 15d6e39222

The problem is:
A4 format postscript files as even pdf file are not completely displayed = part of the documents header is not displayed (about 20mm are missing); moreover printing a .ps or .pdf file from the postscript viewer do not print the full page: also a part of the header is «lost».

I could reproduce this on puppy 4.20 Xtreme v1.0 by replacing the existing gv by Panzerkopf's gv. And vice-versa.

I then believe that the Panzerkopf's gv.gz file could have been integrated to Lupq-511, couldn't it?

I also tried to use the gv -options (managing to recenter or modify the page configuration) from the command line without success.

So I believe that this gv question not to be fully fixed.

Would you mind consider this?
Thanks in advance.
Bien amicalement, Charlie.

Hi.
I have a question about this pet "remasterpup2-100120".
Is this one included in LUPQ-511 or is Barry's original one ?
Thanks in advance.
Yordan.

The "remasterpup2-100120" Is this one included in LUPQ-511 and was once in the woof until 13 september 2010.
Barry recently add some modification and now in Wary-102.

Code: Select all

#100913 simplified puppy filenames. see variables in /etc/DISTRO_SPECS.
#100916 no longer have DISTRO_DEVXSFS in /etc/DISTRO_SPECS.(it was only there briefly)
#101020 no longer have /etc/modprobe.conf.
#101107 bug fix from zygo.
Both may works with no problem unless you use simplified puppy filenames.

If i remaster my liveCD can G4D be replaced with your last version- "grub4dos-0.4.4.v1.6.3" ?
Thanks in advance .
Yordan.
