Just now downloaded the Lupu-003.iso file.
Only 60+ MB...
The calculated md5sum didn't match the one quoted.
Burned a CD-RW, and Lupu failed to boot.
ISO file now deleted.

Any ideas?

The actual size of the 003 iso file is 120 mb.........explains why things wouldn't boot but no idea why file would have been too small.

You can change the : to ___ yourself in the delta file. Although by the error message that isn't the problem.

Sylvander

My download broke too, so I used wget, rarely fails and if it does you can resume and it works well.

Yes... 'buntu is very brown!

Interesting news.
Hopefully implemented in the next Lucid. (004?)

But what about the initrd.
As I understand the initrd is specific for the save file to be used.
So different for ext2, ext3, ext4, reiserfs.

I made a comment on Barry's blog about this.

Nvidias -> This 003 has the nouveau driver which was giving problems with blank screens when the dri/glx was installed. If you have an nvidia card that does not start X, then enter the following at the prompt and then rerun xorgwizard. This is necessary on my Nvidia 5200 card. Could you please let me know how it works out. Does anyone actually need and use nouveau_drv?
Code:
rm /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/nouveau_drv.so
geforce 7600GS > had to remove the nouveau driver to start X

At least by the next Woof that has it included.

@morimoto, Thanks. The nouveau will go back to being an add-on next version.

That is a help Tasgarth, thanks. Was the "nv" driver assigned by xorgwizard?

No, it's not.
First ,using directly lupu002 : no problem I get (directly) a right screen but under lupu003 it was impossible, only through Vesa Wizard.
So I modified the Xorg (saved into lupu003.2fs) > I put the same right driver of lupu002...
.....
Bash 4 is also, very interesting, more than bash3.
(Apologize my poor English language).

Tasgarth, we will be back to the 002 behavior in 004. I think you could exit to a prompt and

Code: Select all

 rm /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/nouveau_drv
and then run xorggwizarde and it would then assign nv properly. Nouveau is the problem--it is being asigned to "every" Nvidia card, or it seems like that. Nouveau is actually an attempt to create an open source driver with accelleration for nvida cards, as I understand it.

ISO file downloaded OK at 2nd attempt.
md5sum checked OK.
CD-RW burned, and Lupu-003 booted OK. :D

What's new/improved about this version?
Over Upup-4.58?

NEW Xdelta from lupu-002 to lupu-003 -->
http://www.diddywahdiddy.net/Puppy500/l ... .iso.delta

all checksums correct for lupu002.iso
md5sum -lupu002- 8c58f0fa79f86841e449d0a5130f7c73

and lupu-002.iso_lupu-003.iso.delta
md5sum -> 46044f06ca7f899ee5ea9f9aacf3ab20

BUT ..
same error message as above:

no, all icons everywhere even those in the bottom tray of opened windows are all washed out. only one that is ok is the opera icon in the bottom tray.

thanks micko BUT i haven't got lupu001, lupu-002 arrived before i made the visit to the icafe.

perhaps another icafe visit, :?

i know my xdelta program does actually work in the file system because i did a md5sum correct xelta quirky013 right next to the lupu folder.

No problem, I'll make another a little later. May have to wait a couple of hours because I am compiling seamonkey-2.04 atm. I just have to wonder why I had to disable everything refering to windows just to get 'make' to run.

playdayz.. I would advise against going with the latest seamonkey . It will break too much and I fear we won't have time to fix it all, cups, puppybrowser, gxine, maybe other stuff.

I should have it up in an hour or so, providing it works!

edit: aarf, did you see playdayz' first post, "New Xdelta"

01micko, Ttuuxxx gave up trying to compile Seamonkey and downloaded the full default for 432Official.
ttuuxxx wrote:-Seamonkey <--- I download SM2 sources to compile it, It wouldn't compile right at all, what a pain I spent maybe 5 hrs on it, Then said $#$## I'm using the default one, So with the default one I had to add an updated sqlite and dbus, ok I can live with that.
The full version of 2.04 that he used looks good.
Hope you have better success with it.

playdayz,
You haven't asked for additional programs yet, but here are two very useful ones to consider:
1. snap2, a powerful rsync-based, open-source, free backup program for Linux by Istandish
snap2 home page -- snap2.pet download
2. dirdiff, which allows comparison of up to 5 directories at once.
dirdiff-2.1-4fixed2.pet

aarf, drat, I am at a loss now. I checked this latest one (named NEW) by reassembling the 002.iso and the delta file and got the green message, Success, newfile.iso or some name like that. I am trying buddy. 004 will be here Saturday and I will make an 002 -> 004, which won't help if the process is flawed somehow.

Has anyone else used the delta file--with what experience?

01micko, we will see about Seamonkey--mybe I cna cheat.

jim1911, yes, please be recommending programs, that you have tested, thanks, I have told Barry we will have a basket of tasty programs for one-click install in the PPM.
