See woof-code/huge_extras/init.

OK... I'll push the same change there.
But why not patch or sed the changes instead?
A word. Lazy. :P

/usr/lib/cups/backend (and /usr/lib/cups/filters) must be 0755.
/usr/lib/cups/backend/* must be 0700 or 0500 (I have it 0700 in Fatdog600 and 0500 in Fatdog 700).

If not, you need more than just chmod 0666 to /dev/usb/lp* (there are a few others you need to chmod to 0666).

SOLVED: CUPS on Slacko-6.0 alpha

All solved :D

(Installed epson_inkjet_printer_escpr-1.4.0.pet for my printer.)
# chmod 500 /usr/lib/cups/backend/*
Restarted CUPS.(Was not needed)
The web interface shows my USB connected EPSON EP-404A on the list of the local printers.
Printing testpage. Success :!:

Thanks to all!

EDIT: Did change the permission of the device node and retried.
# chmod 660 /dev/usb/lp0
# ls -l /dev/usb/lp0
crw-rw---- 1 root lp 180, 0 6月 20 2014 /dev/usb/lp0

Removed the previous printer and add new with the same process.
All success.

Thank you shinobar! Does it work too in tahr-pup? EDIT: ok I see it does :)

If it does then I can add in the 3builddistro stage something like this:

Code: Select all

chmod 0755 rootfs-complete/usr/lib/cups/backend
chmod 0755 rootfs-complete/usr/lib/cups/filters
chmod 500 rootfs-complete/usr/lib/cups/backend/*
The node would have to be done in the running system .. if it's really needed?

666 is ok here

I think 666 and 660 both ok if the owner group is sane.
Seeing /etc/group:

Looks really nice. Pleased to see Abiword 3.0.0 - although when I tried to view a docx it showed as rubbish. Couldn't see docx listed in the plugins so I went to the Abiword plugins webpage and it said individual plugins are no longer available - "Note that plugins are not shipped separately anymore, but are shipped in the main AbiWord installer...Plugins can be selected during the installation of AbiWord.".

Maybe the docx box wasn't ticked?

Updated p(av)record apps (mcewanw).
We found and fixed quite important issue that was causing overwriting of /dev/null.

Latest stable GParted is v0.19.0 - http://gparted.org/

Latest stable mtPaint is v3.44.72, only just come out. See Forum thread

Still running a LiveCD install on the Pentium D. Copied the main and zdrive sfs files to the same sub-directory as the save file and it still boots. Boots very quickly actually.

Icon bar clock isn't losing am/pm anymore in en_GB locale.
Zhaan - AMD K6 2 500, 512MB RAM, ATI Rage 128 VR. Full install Wary 5.5 HardInfo Report
Merlin - Core i5-4590, 8GB RAM, Radeon R9 270X. Slacko 5.7.0

3.44.72 is definitely not quite stable, as the list of fixes in 3.44.73 attests. :-)
Version 3.44.73, on the other hand, is intended to be (something of) an island of stability - another batch of heavy changes will be going into the version(s) after it.

line 24 of the Multiple-Sound-Card-Wizard, if changed to <list selected-row="0"> will have the first device selected on opening.
Does that fix it? If so I'll commit.

It does help in that when first run that at lest something is selected, but it would be fail-safe if the the OK button was disabled unless a item in the list was selected, or a warning to make a selection was given.

I go the xorgwizard and chose vesa. The xorgwizard require reboot PC. But the shutdownconfig is not invoked. Therefore, reboots without saving session.
Firstly, try nouveau.noaccel=1.
Secondly, yes there is a bug with CLI save.

@Mav: maybe it would be safer to grep ' X$' (there's a space before X) or grep -w X ?
Also, some alternatives: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 090#781090
